    It’s not the Hilton with the Maharishi, is it ‘Our World’ Studio One then?

  2. Michoo says:

    Look closely at the bottom picture. It must be the stage (hangar or whatever) where Your Mother Should Know was shot;

  3. A Car And A Room And A Room And A Room says:

    Yes, Michoo, West Malling MMT filming, either late Sept-early Oct ’67

  4. Michael says:

    If you look closely, you can see John in the background of the 2nd photo in his “wizard” get up.

    @A Car…
    That is beyond interesting…that the Your Mother Should Know sequence was filmed at West Malling(I Am The Walrus location). The film of ‘Walrus’ reveals no such structure(hangar, soundstage, etc). Is West Malling an actual film/motion picture facility? Or was it a one-time-only usage of the edifice? (And, does it still stand? Still functioning?)
    Thanks, for everything!

    Kwai, are you kidding? You must be…. :)
    If not, check the Filming Days here:

    West-Malling was used for a lot of MMT scenes, not only Walrus, the Hangar is said to ge still there, although I didn’t check lately.

    @GLcompany…
    Thank you. I wasn’t kidding about the questions. The link you gave DID answer all of them. But, as usual…new questions come from new answers.
    I’ve never had much of an opinion about the movie. It IS its own entity. It wouldn’t be too clever to hide all of the ‘magic’ in the title. But, then again, I’m glad the title wasn’t West Malling Mystery Tour…or, Magical Mystery Malling…or, Magical Malling Tour. Although, the premise loses some of the
    sparkle when the bus gets parked for days at a time…outside the hangar.
    Thank you: I love that link/site. AND…I’m SO happy that the VOX(?) guitar was not part of the Walrus final edit. The Strat is much more appropriate!

    (I forgot to mention)
    I can’t believe how much Maureen looks like Jenny Boyd…
    What was the attraction for the wives to show up?
    (Last scene…wrap party?)

    Was the giant stairway constructed for the Mother Should Know scene?
    That thing is dangerously steep. It’s pretty amazing that nobody started an avalanche. That thing looks like the Matterhorn.

    Was the movie exempt from the wrath of Musicians Union regarding TV miming?

  9. GLCompany says:

    @Kwai, I am not sure if this Book by Tony Barrow can answer all of your questions, but I think at least a few.

    As far as I know, Yes that Stairs was built for this Scene

  10. Michael says:

    On 2nd thought, it now looks to me that John is wearing his hat w/feather and suit from the nightclub scene. Quite blurry. BTW those “Beatle” chicks had it going on!

  11. GLcompany says:

    These were taken on Sunday september 24, it was all focussed on Your Mother Should Know and Final Scene, the Magicians walking out the Hangar.

  12. nick_L says:

    As this pic shows, Maureen was a knockout. We hear a lot about how beautiful Pattie Boyd and Jane Asher were but less so about Mo and Cyn perhaps because they were the hometown girls who were there in the beginning? Just thinking’ out loud.

  13. MarkZapp says:

    Wow! What fantastic pictures. I never knew that any of The Beatles’ wives had attended any filming of “Magical Mystery Tour” until I just saw these. Yet more mind blowing photos on this site.
