When was that taken? And for what exactly? “Nowhere Boy” movie?
Great photo. Where is Mendips?
Mendips is John Lennon’s boyhood home he grew up in with his Aunt Mimi in Liverpool. It is on Menlove Ave. in Liverpool just around the corner from Strawberry Fields.
I’ve always loved this photo. : )
Is Mendips open to the public or just Olivia and Yoko
?
To the public, as is Paul’s Forthlin Rd home.
The National Trust administers both properties: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-the_beatles.htm
Been to both, albeit outside only, as they were closed for touring when I was there. About a week before Mendips opened in early 2003.
Thank you Tammy and Adam for the info! Gee, now all I have to do is make it back to Liverpool! Would LUV LUV LUV to visit both places. I hope George’s childhood home is still standing too. I think Ringo’s was unfortunately dozed…how short-sighted was that?
I have been to both homes, there is a very nice tour. In a mini-van with just 5-6 at a time. You are allowed to go through the houses on your own. No photos allowed, but etched in memory! Paul and John used to sing in the shown entrance as it had a nice echo.
Olivia and Yoko visited Mendips in May 2008. They were in Liverpool for the screening of ‘Concert For George’ and the ‘Love’ documentary at the Fact cinema.
