WORDS FROM A MASTER:

“They were fantastic singers. Lennon, to this day, it’s hard to find a better singer than Lennon was, or than McCartney was and still is.

“I’m in awe of McCartney. He’s about the only one that I am in awe of. He can do it all. And he’s never let up… He’s just so effortless.”

Bob Dylan 2007.

Such a nice thing for Dylan to say.
I read a story though, about how in 1965 Paul tried to play him one of his new songs on piano, and halfway through Dylan just shook his head and walked away. It breaks my heart, that story, of Paul, so eager to please!

  4. “Oh, I get it.
You’re not trying to be cute anymore,”
    said Bob to Paul.

Hi Sophie, the anecdote was actually from Marianne Faithfull and it’s in her autobiography Faithfull. In May 1966, at the Mayfair Hotel, London, when Dylan was in the middle of his electric tour with The Band, Paul had either a tape or an acetate of stuff the Beatles had been recording including Tomorrow Never Knows. Paul put it on but a very stoned Dylan walked out of the room. According to Ms Faithfull Macca was left speechless and embarassed.
