Looks almost like a strobe tuner.

Levell Transistor R.C. Oscillator TG150 used to varispeed the BTR2 tape recorder in order to modulate the ADT mechanism. Here is the manual:

Holy cow (horse), you are unbelievable, ‘enry. Good spot with excellent support link. Love it.

  4. Mr Horse is on fire, i’m not sure what you said, it sounded like something Marvin the Martian would say, but i get the gist. :-)

  5. MarkZapp says:

Yeah, why didn’t you think of that, you twit!

  6. mcarp555 says:

Is that the sort of oscillator Chris Thomas had to “waggle for hours” on the “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” mixes?

  7. henry_the_horse says:

@mcarp555 That is right. The TG150 was the oscillator controlling the BTR/2 machine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_double_tracking).
If I recall correctly, the White Album features ADT on:
    1.”Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” (vocal).
2.”While My Guitar Gently Weeps” (lead guitar, organ).
    3.”Don’t Pass Me By” (vocal).
    4.”I Will” (lead guitar).
    5.”Julia” (guitar).
    6.”Yer Blues” (2nd lead guitar).
    7.”Mother Nature’s Son” (lead guitar).
    8.”Sexy Sadie” (lead guitar).
    9.”Revolution 1″ (brass).
    10.”Savoy Truffle” (saxes).
    11.”Cry Baby Cry” (acoustic guitar).
