May ’67 in No. 2 Studio. That’s Sean O’Mahoney looking on.
I will always wonder why Paul shaved his mustache first. Did John think “well I can’t have Paul without a mustache and not me…” So mysterious the whole thing. lol
Oh yeah, and were The Beatles in the editing room for Let It Be? I know George talked about alway editing while on Dick Cavette while promoting The Concert For Bangladesh. By the way, I know a woman who was picked up by Dick Cavette while hitch hycking in Montawk in 1979. He yelled at her and told her it was dangerous to hitchkyke.
Great photo by the way!
I might be wrong here, but it looks like John has his mustache. Look closely at the picture.
To answer the Let It Be question. They all were involved in the editing of the Let It Be film, but at different times.
If you watch the original bootleg video of the reels of deleted footage when the 3 – 3 1/2 hour rough cut of Hogg’s was trimmed massively down to the final edit, you can get an idea of what order stuff was cut out.
Hogg tried to butter up each member in his rough cut and to highlight the best and worst of the sessions. First to get trimmed off, obviously by John, were the dull, All Things Must Pass rehearsal footage clips, because they made Yoko look like a pest. And his House Of The Rising Sun cover cos he had words wrong. anll the Yoko singing jams were chopped off by Paul and George, John and Paul chopped a large portion of Let It Be / Two Of Us rehearsals from the Apple portion, unclear what Ringo edited out.
Towards the end of recording pepper Paul flew to america to meet Jane Asher who was doing some acting. Maybe she is the one who didn’t like his mustache and convinced him to lose it.
I was outside!!! I remember that outfit. Great photo, hadn’t seen it yet.
Lizzie can you tell us more of that day when you were outside?
I think John was still sporting his luxurious ‘tache at this point as, I believe, this was the initial session for “All you need is love”. There are several photos of this session most notably one where they are listenining to a playback with John with VERY sweaty underarms and another with John at the piano with a typical Lennon grin (in Yellow polka dot shirt) and Ringo looking on. Again, I may be wrong…
John still has onr
Was that picture taken during the Sgt Pepper sessions?I see John at the piano.I know he played the piano and the acoustic guitar on “A Day in the Life.
The set of photos from this day were said to be from a “All You Need Is Love” session in the notoriously unrelieable Beatles Monthly but have by now been identified by wizz of the BZ forum as May 17 – a session for “You Know My Name”. On the same day it seems they were also photographed at Brian Epsteins office, sitting on a sofa in front of a window with two bronze-looking awards on the table in front of them.
Chris, my diary doesn’t say that much about that day. It says John had black trousers and a long red coat on and that he looked great. And it describes the usual going to Paul’s house and then going to EMI.
Thanks for checking your diary, Lizzie! So I guess the visit to Brian`s office must have been before meeting at Paul`s house.
