I’ve never seen that promo item…
(The whole cake!!! …’Box’ism)
Wow; as much as I love John, this would have been a tough album to promote, never mind merit a promo item like this. A bit like putting lipstick on a pig. Still, there can’t have been many of these made; even fewer to survive (if any).
Exactly Mccarp 555. This was a tough one to push, it can be art or whatever, but what were they thinking ?
John’s hair at it’s longest before the shearing?
The package was already cost prohibitive.
Kill the promo…lower the price!
(That display is probably worth a…cost prohibitive, anyway)
Thanks so much for sharing this and all the other great pictures today. : ) You posted so many I’ve never seen before, including this one, thanks again. : )
Another one from that Bubi Heilemann session – there are more:
No dates given though.
This source says 12/1969:
Another one that was hard to push was Two Virgins. My best memory of Two Virgins is I remember going to the back of the record shop in 1968 as a 11 yr old kid and sneaking to the back to rip off the brown cover and look at the pix only to get caught by the guy that worked in the shop, looking back it is funny but I was terrified at the time. Another flashback thanks to
this blog. LOL
Hahaha!!, you know times are desperate when you have to look at the Two Virgins cover as porn
Re: Two Virgins Porn?
My sister(R.I.P.) was one of the most ‘liberated’ females I’ve ever known. And, even in those days, there was a lot of porn…but, ONLY Two Virgins cover could make my sister’s jaw hang to the floor…lose track of time…practically go into a trance. She would hand back the album while staring at some distant point in space and say “God dammit…I wanna &%#@ him…he’s got a nice ass”.
My Mom hated it.
There is a picture on this blog that shows the Wedding Album Promo Display in the living room of Tittenhurst. Tammy posted it on Oct. 30, 2009…
