Just saw these on Sarah’s site, but I guess they came from here first. What a find, thanks for posting!
I wonder if they were taken by Fred Seaman- incidentally, didn’t he intend to publish a book of his snapshots at one point, which was stopped due to the ownership issue/diary theft controversy?
I wonder how many previously unseen pictures from ’78-’80 that book would have contained?!?
Once again, these are wonderful, thanks again for posting, and to Jay for finding them!
All I can say is ‘WOW”.
These photos are priceless. I just love sneak peeks like this.
Thanks to all!
another big “wow” from me!!!
I’m the fan who took the pics of Undercliff from January 2006. Enjoy!!
Jeff … the photos are phenomenal. Is that Fred sitting in the chair? It certainly looks like his profile but I can’t remember ever seeing pics of Fred w/long hair.
These photos are treasures!
THANKS!!!!!
Great job Jeff! can you unveil some more about the exact location maybe?
amazing pics. here is a link to a great article from Uncut magazine, from few years ago. Has a lot of detail about John’s time in Bermuda.

On a personnal level and sorry to bore y’all but what thet hell, I remember seeing all these 1980 pictures back when they came out and thinking that would be a cool way to look when I get older, there was 16 yrs between John’s age and mine, now this year aI am going to be 56 and that means I am 16yrs older then John was when he died. I know it is stupid but it hit me when I looked at these pix.
Life is what happens to you when tou are busy making other plans.
Best from The Btronx.

@Guus
The best information I can give you is:
1) The house is on a unmarked road
2) The road looks like a driveway
3) The road is not on any map I had
4) Many of the locals seem protective of the location
5) It’s located in the Fairylands section of Bermuda. A residential area that is away from the tourist areas of Bermuda.
6) If it wasn’t for the signs by the house, I would never had known I found the location. There was literally no one around the day I was there. A very quiet area. Perfect for a Lennon hideaway. I got lucky I found it. I didn’t write down the cross street, so I can’t even give you much information beyond this. I found it by luck
Wow, thanks so much for these, they’re amazing! : ) <3
No more flashbacks but, judging from the first two photo’s the beachfront looks like where that famous picture of John and Sean on the beach was taken, you know the one where John has on a hat and jeans and looks way overdressed for Bermuda at that time of the year. Again, looking at these two pix of John and he is dressed the way you should for Bermuda at that time of the year, the bottom pix looks like he just got out of the water, my point being I wonder how much John overdressed in public to disguise himself in order to be left alone.
I know what you mean Alex, John’s look in the later part of 1980 was absolutley timeless, if John could be transported back to today he would not look out of place at all, he just looked beyond cool, stylish and as i said timeless for the last few months of his life. I just wish someone would get me a pair of those honey coloured, plastic framed sunglasses
I don’t think that’s Fred; I think it’s the guy who took care of John’s plants at the Dakota, a guy he nicknamed Mike Tree. The photos looked familiar to me, and then I realized I had seen them on this guy’s site: http://www.barefootinnutopia.com/Barefoot_in_Nutopia/Bermuda.html
Apparently, he’s writing a book.
I thought it was Julian trying to not look like dad…
but, it’s only dad not trying to not look like Julian.
Thanks a lot Jeff, I found another picture of the villa yesterday, taken from the sea by a Dutch fan.
Hi Guus, can you mail me that pic please?

Interview at Undercliffe
God, What to make of Barefoort in Nutopia. If this is on the level it puts a new light on things. Yoko’s affair with her gay designer, I’m still trying to digest that one.
Who knows if this stuff is really true and why spread crap after 32 years.
@Alex Yoko’s affair with Sam Green in the summer of 1980 has been well documented. Sam Green has confirmed it and Yoko has never denied it.
Although Sam Green has stated he is not gay.
Never knew it, heard of Sam Green though. I just don’t like hearing this crap 30 odd yrs later and Lennon is dead.
Who was the Tarrot card reader who wrote a book about 25 yrs ago, wasn’t that Sam Green ?
@Alex ~ No, that was John Green. Anyway, I suppose we’ll have to wait and see about this Barefoot in Nutopia… I don’t plan on buying it, though.
Barefoot in Nutopia seems to borrow quite a bit of material from Fred Seaman’s book and other sources.
So Stuart,
What ya think, B.S. produces more B.S.??
What a bunch of vultures…………
Well I read that Barefoot in Nutopia blog post, and some of those “quotes” from John sound scripted. Isn’t it convenient that John said exactly what this writer seemed to want him to say (mention the weight loss: check; mention the mother/abandonment issues: check; etc.)
The only thing I don’t doubt is that John and Yoko had some marital difficulties in 79-80, as that has been reported in legitimate books like Peter Doggett’s You Never Give Me Your Money. There is a sense sometimes that the two of them were living separate lives in those years. But we’ll never fully know the truth and it’s really not our business anyway, is it?
Tammy!!!( and all the other Lennon die-hards) Please check out retrovision eyewear and they have EXACT reproductions of the John Lennon 1980 “MAYFAIR” style glasses. These are exactly like John’s from 79-80 the frames come in honey-orange AND NOW clear plastic with either black or blue lenses. Check ‘em out and you won’tbe disappointed!!!
Just would like to tell everyone that Mike Tree is a very honest friend of John Lennon and that I trust everything he writes. I´m absolutely convinced that everything he tells us is true. He was, apart from Yoko, the person who was nearest to John before he died. This is also Kane´s opinion (see “Lennon Revealed”). I can´t wait until his book is published and want to be the first one to buy it.
Stuart,
My impression is that Mike Tree just wants to tell us about his experience. He does not seem to care about it being new or not new and that is exactly what I like about his writing, No need for him to borrow from others, he was there!
