Paul always said he grew up with a relative’s baby in his lap. He is so natural around kids. Looking at the photos of Jules and Paul you can sense there was a connection. John might have been jealous of Paul’s “Swinging London” life, but I bet Paul thought having a son would be just right.
If I’m Julian, this shot is blown up large enough to cover a wall
This is one of my absolutely favorites. Julian was the cutest kid. I love seeing pictures of him with his Uncle Paul.
Beautiful and touching pic!
When I see these pictures of Julian and Paul I often wonder;
Who was the REAL father figure to Julian in those Beatle days???
Say what you want about Paul, but he was always a well grounded good guy even to this day. God Love ya Paulie……………
paul always loved kids. when any of the “regulars” brought a child – a relative or someone they were supposed to be babysitting – to cavendish ave. in the late sixties, he always had something to say to the kid. i totally understand because i’ve always loved kids too.
Paul also loved Jules because he was John’s kid. You don’t see any photos of him with Ringo’s kids, for example.
That’s an interesting observation Karen. Maybe he sensed that Julian wasn’t getting the attention he wanted from his dad. Ringo’s kids always had a very loving environment and it seems like Ringo made every effort to be home with them. Yeah, John was home but I think he felt trapped by the domestic life and he cut himself off a bit.
I agree, Karen, very interesting observation. I think you’re onto something- Paul probably felt more of a connection to Julian than to Zak and Jason, just because of the deep bond between him and John.
