Why does George look shorter than John here?

  2. mike says:

I love that picture, I have it on a big poster :-)

  3. jim says:

    BLJ–look at/compare/contrast their legs/posture…

I want to look like Paul when I grow up.

  5. Since 1963 says:

    @BLJ

George is standing in the gutter and John is wearing heels. All that adds up. :)

  6. Kevin says:

If George and John had backed up a few steps too quickly, accidently knocking the drummer and the bass player off the roof, we would not have any Beatles around today at all…….

  7. kavada says:

Who was the highest of these boys?

  8. CLD says:

highest as in drugs, or highest as in tallest? :D

I think Paul was the tallest, by just a smidge, over George. When it comes to the “highest”, that’s a little harder to judge. :D

  9. betty says:

@ kevin thats what im thinking,…dont slip!

I also always felt uncomfy about this photo, thinking that standing on this edge is rather risky. At least the perspective suggests that it`s a long way down there. It might not be as high as it looks (Kenwoodlennons blog might actually be able to tell us how high) but still…

    ‘parapet blues’…
twenty feet of fresh air is really more than any one person can use…
you can bet that Paul’s(right) and Ringo’s(both) hands are firmly holding onto John and George…George may even be holding Ringo’s leg…
(at California jobsites…this is an OSHA violation)

  12. kavada says:

Paul was the tallest, then John and George and at last Ringo.

    Paul: 5’ 10,5” (1,79 m)
    John: 5’ 10,25” (1.784 m)
    George: 5’ 10” (1.78 m)
    Ringo: 5’ 6” (1.68 m)

Someone wrote on the net that Paul was 1.80 m or 1.81 m, but at last I also think that Paul was the tallest.

  13. Chris says:

I always read that John, Paul and George were 5′ 11″ and Ringo was 5′ 8″. I guess that was Brian’s doing.

  14. Brian says:

    Their name liveth forever more

Its a great poster as well as a last hurrah group shot…Hot August afternoon,,,in 1969…I was in Philadelphia only 10 years old…playing little league baseball..and these guys were breaking up…Johns beard was so thick and reddish..he may have been considered a ginger..in some spots in England…a subject of ridicule…fabulous that they were keeping up the front…as they already knew John had decided to leave,,so to say goodbye,,,Abbey Road was cut. George loved blue it looks like,,he was always in blue…and Pauls love for henley shirts….this one a light lavendar..Ringo being a black shirt fan,,,,,Im thinking John was very cool on these last pics.

  16. Mary says:

I like John’s Emperor Zod shirt.

  17. Markzapp says:

This photo was taken in August. John did not announce that he was leaving the group until September so they did NOT know. Abbey Road had already been recorded by this point.
