Yes! I finally know what that blasted thing is! Here I was thinking it was some sort of…thing that actually had a purpose. Thanks for posting this and solving the mystery!
I just love these pictures of John.
Yes, when I first saw this photo my first thought was “Nothing Box!”.
But the date and appearance of John irked me – no Alex in sight yet, as far as we know. So when did they really meet?
Once again folks correct me if I’m wrong … I think “Magic Alex” came to London some time in 1965. He moved into John Dunbar’s flat, had a kinetic light sculpture exhibit at Indica & within that period met John who was impressed by Alex’s ‘Nothing Box’. Mardas became a part of the Beatles’s circle in 1967.
Magic Alex’s crap.
I’d have one.
Finally! I never knew what he was holding in those lovely photos! Should I order one of these? Maybe that’s what’s been missing in my life…

Magic Alex took them all for a ride, didn’t he?
This is pre Magic Alex surely!
It reminds me on one of all those TV-shop things from today- totally useless, but you must have it!
BTW- a very nice pic of Johnny!
