The two musicians I admire the most

Wow – does George look ever-so-sexy in that picture! I love the way his hair is styled! As for Eric he looks a bit plump (perhaps the picture is a bit blurred) but George YES!

  3. Julio Serra says:

I’d love to know more about this Gibson Les Paul Eric is playing. It seems like a late fifties standard model to me. The ‘Lucy’ (Red Les Paul Eric played While My Guitar…), is back to Clapton’s collection again. Did George give it back to him?

  4. Pete F. says:

As far as I know, the original ‘Lucy’ is still with the Harrison family. Clapton was seen recently in a video playing a limited edition replica. Perhaps that’s the source of some confusion?

  5. Julio Serra says:

Thanks Pete. I saw this video too, that’s why I thought it was Lucy, but as you say it’s actually a replica. Yep, that was the source of some confusion. You know, I’m happy the original one is with the Harrion’s.

  6. Vitor Bastos says:

Actually the guitar Eric played in this recently video is the original guitar from Harrison

  7. Pete F. says:

Sorry Vitor but it’s not. It’s a replica from the 2013 Crossroads Guitar Collection, a series of identical reproductions (including dents and scratches) that features some of Clapton’s legendary guitars: the ‘Lucy’ Les Paul, the ‘Brownie’ Strat and his Martin ’000′ acoustics.

In the video, EC says “it’s a fantastic repro!”. He speaks at length about the history of ‘Lucy’ but that is not the original he is playing. Check out the video again here: http://www2.gibson.com/News-Lifestyle/News/en-us/Eric-Clapton-Talks-Gibsons-New–Lucy-Les-Paul.aspx

Harrison loaned ‘Lucy’ briefly to Clapton in 1973 who returned it after his comeback concerts in London. It was stolen later that year from George’s house in California, tracked down to Mexico and eventually recovered by George. It is still in the Harrison family today.

  8. Vitor Bastos says:

Wow! They made the guitar look so “antique” and used, so awesome! thanks for the information

  9. Pete F. says:

    You’re very welcome Vitor

    Cheers! :-)

Did anybody notice that George plays a Squire (and not a “real” Fender) Strat?
