Yoko is in Sydney, and of course Miss Tammy has been invited to all sorts of esoteric Ono events. Last Thursday I had the pleasure of getting to chat with Yoko, as with every other time i’ve met her she showed herself to be polite, kind, funny and welcoming.

Yesterday was an Onopolooza, Yoko done her thing, all over the Sydney Opera House, and it was amazing. She opened with a ten minute vocalization that had the audience enthralled and moved, i never realized the power and theatre of Yoko’s vocalizations, but it was breathtaking, and took one through a range of emotions. Pretty cool to also see bagism explained, and demonstrated.

Yoko’s exhibition ‘War is over’ is at the Sydney MCA until Feb 23rd.

dear tammy, great to see yoko, she is breathtaking, she is brilliant, how she performs at her age is astonishing. i was in berlin this year, february 18. as yoko celebrated her 80th birthday with a concert, playing, singing and dancing with sean, a great young band ans guests artist. yoko said: “I will put my feet up when I’m in a coffin, but until then I will do my best to have a full life.” she does!

The alarm clock was brought out for the encore, before disappearing into the dark Yoko said ‘When the alarm sounds, that’s when the concert is over’. Most of us took this instruction as absolute, and refused to budge . . much to the confusion of the ushers :-)
