What else can others spot in John and Yoko’s office, using Miss Tammy’s Romper Room magic mirror, i can see ..

* A pile of Double Fantasy promo albums behind Yoko in the first photo, as well as a Magritte painting.

* In the second, more promo albums, and a framed copy of 1979’s ‘A love letter from John and Yoko’

* In the third i see an address filofax that i can only dream of having access to :-)

In the first pic, a framed Jurgen Vollmer photo from Hamburg, April 1961 (the cover of John’s “Rock’n’Roll” 1975 album)

  2. Lizzie says:

it’s all those file cabinets that inhabit my imagination… can only imagine all the wonderful things to be found in them!

  3. Cara says:

Besides books on Impressionism and Isamu Noguchi, there’s a B&B Italia furniture catalog in the first photo. Not exactly Beatle gold, but definitely cool. Btw, is that Fred’s head looking up at the album covers?

  4. A Different Chris says:

I’m straining my eyes for a pack of Gitanes, but I can’t find any.

  5. Tammy says:

Yeh, i’m pretty sure that’s Fred. You have better eyes than i, i couldn’t make out the book titles :-)

  6. Tammy says:

Are those ciggies in front of Yoko at the desk?, i think she smoked ‘Shermans’ .. WHY do i know that off the top of my head!?, i don’t even know my own phone number, or address! :-)

  7. Pete F. says:

Also in the first pic, on the left, a photo of John performing at the 1969 Toronto Rock’n’Roll Revival (I think)

  8. Adam from Canberra says:

Interesting that John chose to sign the back of DF when given the chance.

I’d only ever seen the front cover signed when offered to sign it out front of the Dakota.

  9. Ishie says:

The ‘Mona Yoko’ adorns the wall … perhaps a pack of Nat Sherman MCD’s on the desk (photo #1).
Carnegie Party announcement (?) on bulletin board in photo #3.

and I’d LOVE to know what gems are stored within the file cabinets that lined the office of Studio One.

  10. alex of da bronx says:

John was so NYC/Liverpool cool at this point. He bridged the two.

  11. alex of da bronx says:

Adam maybe John signed the back of Double Fantasy because the back cover is much lighter then the front. Just a guess.
    I can say no more………………..

  12. Jorge says:

Wonder what the chimp “comment bubble” is saying in the bottom pic directly above John’s head? It’s posed almost exactly like John’s iconic ‘NYC’ t-shirt photo shoot (hands wrapped around knees profile pic!)

  13. Derek says:

Wow, high res to die for. But what’s the LP cover in the 1st photo, top right? It’s a Bed-In photo, but not an album cover I recognize. Grrrreat pics….

  14. Jorge says:

You are right Derek, definitely a Bed-in photo, the others all look like the front and back covers

  15. Cara says:

Derek, it’s the cover of Life WIth the Lions (Unfinished Music #2).

  16. Cara says:

Oops! Never mind… you were talking about top right, not top left. Sorry!

  17. Vin says:

top pic: to the left of the Impressionism book, a copy of “Dallas Nude: A Photographic Essay” by Charles R. Collum. LP winner!

  18. Vin says:

… and the two volumes of “Le Maroc et l’Artisanat Traditionnel Islamique dans l’Architecture” by André Paccard, published 1980. Double LP winner!!

  19. Tammy says:

Ooh!!, good spotting, keep them coming.

  20. Vin says:

In the first pic, right next to the clock behind Yoko is what looks like a 10″ reel-to-reel box. On the spine it could very well say: STARTING OVER JOHN & YOKO [illegible word] GEFFEN W8.

In the third pic, Yoko’s cigarette box looks exactly like Sherman’s Havana Ovals.

  21. Tammy says:

Well done Vin!! :-) are they also tape boxes Fred is looking up to?

  22. Vin says:

I don’t think so, no. They look like photos mounted on wood, but you never know with those Lennons. Thanks for the whole bunch of amazing pics you’ve posted recently. You’re a bloody marvel, Miss T!

  23. Vin says:

And I’ve only just noticed the strange little goblin figurine at the end of the bookshelf (first photo, top right). Long nose, big ear, and finger to his lips.

  24. Derek says:

No clues on the mystery album top right then? Give Peace a Chance single cover?

Is the Yoko portrait the one John commissioned from Warhol in 1978? I wonder.

The Magritte (‘Empire of Light’) is a copy… (the original is huge), though I heard Paul does/did owns an original Magritte—a massive apple (possibly ‘The Listening Room’).

  25. mcarp555 says:

The ‘album cover’ in the top right is the rear cover of the lp jacket in of the ‘Wedding Album’.

  26. Ishie says:

The top of the cover says ‘Amsterdam’ and the bottom John and Yoko.

  27. Derek says:

    Aah, thanks mcarp555/Ishie
