Yeah – backstage of the UK 65' Tour. George broke his Country Gentleman and started to use the Gibson 345 as #1 guitar on that tour. The Moddy Blues were the openning act and George hired their Stratocaster as #2 guitar. Here John was playing it, just for the warm-up.
Yeah, he and George both acquired "Sonic Blue" stratocasters in '65. George painted his funny colors and I don't know much about John's. I do know that the film of John and George recording for the album "Imagine" shows George playing the missing Strat at John's house/studio. I wonder what ever happened to it?
John holds Stratcaster?

Backstage on The Beatles last UK
tour…December 1965…
And I think the Epi Casino that George is playing is actually John's, without the Bigsby.
Actually, I take that back! George is playing a Gibson ED-335, not either one of the Epi Casinos! There's no trapez tailpiece!
It is not an Epiphone Casino but a Gibson ES-345TDV. It has a stop tailpiece.
just check the pickguard. the gibsons is black and the epis is white. a friend
