STARTING OVER:

Here we are with the first posting of John in 1980 photographs, from now until December i’ll be posting groups of photo’s of John and Yoko in 1980. I understand that some people look upon that time frame as a very sad one, and i understand that, i guess i’m fortunate as i’ve only ever looked upon, and experienced that era as a joyous and wonderfull time. It was when we had John back with us, working and creating at a dizzying pace. It’s the only time i ‘had’ John as a fan, as he’d already retired by the time i got into the Beatles in 1975, so each second of John in 1980 is precious to me, i look upon this time .. right up to 10.48pm on December the 8th as a time of joy. When i visited the Dakota a few years ago people asked ‘Wasn’t it sad?, wasn’t it creepy?’ and in all honesty no, the thought of the tragedy crossed my mind, and then left .. i remembered and focused on the happy times John spent there, and all the times he walked in and out of the place living and enjoying life, so if you’re wondering, that’s why i’m celebrating John in 1980.

The top picture is taken 8 December 1980, on the last day of his life. Wasn’t it taken by Annie Leibovitz?

  3. Lizzie Bravo says:

    Yes.

    hi there
I’m glad you didn’t have 2 frames of the picures I sent you
and as a karma law I didn’t have 2 frames here.
I agree with you about the 1980 time.

Hi Luis, i don’t really understand what you mean, if you’ve sent me photo’s that you don’t want me to publish you’d better write to me and let me know which ones, thanks, Greg.

I think he looks unhealthy in all of these photos. Way too thin.

    He was the King…

  10. Lizzie Bravo says:

I agree that he was the King, that he looks just beautiful, that 1980 was a very good year for him before that awful moment, what I don’t understand is how can there be karma law involved in posting photos in a blog. Please explain! This 59 year-old brain can’t get it!

  11. Markzapp says:

I think that he possibly meant that he sent 2 photos to Greg and posted that Greg did not previously have AND Greg posted 2 more photos that Luis didn’t have. I think but then what do I know. I’m only here because The Partridge Family photo blog is down…

  12. Lizzie Bravo says:

Thanks, Markzapp, I feel better now! Tell me more about The Partridge Family photo blog… (as she says to herself, get back to work Lizzie!)

    Hello Tammy,
Like you, John of 1980 is precious to me and I love his look then, although he was very thin. I think it’s great to celebrate John this way. The third picture is cool. Keep on the good work please !

  14. Jennifer says:

Thank you very much for sharing all these beautiful pictures and screen caps with us. I wholeheartedly agree with your thoughts on 1980. : )

Tammy: I’m travelling this week for work, but wanted you to know I located a few pics that might be interest re: ’80….also – I’m sure you’re aware of the soon to be published book on the Double Fantasy sessions by Ken Sharp (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1439103003?ie=UTF8&tag=abbeyrdsbeatlesp&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=1439103003) . Looks very interesting and it’s certainly long overdue. Probably not a surprise, but I look at 1980 the same way you do – a rebirth of John’s creativity and a chance for us to experience more of his complete and utter genius.

  16. Tammy says:

Hey, send along any pics when you get back from travelling ..

    Thanks,

1980 was (for the most part) a fruitful & joyous time for John. He was back in the studio, creating & recording and his outlook and appreciation of life was bright & infectious. If not for his untimely death, this could have been his most exhilarating time since the early days of Beatlmania. Can’t wait to see what other ’80′s’ photos you have in store!

  18. LUIS ENRIQUE says:
