Not seen most of these before – you excel again, squire. Presuming that last pic is the backyard of Cav Ave it’s certainly bigger then yer average central London house back garden

  4. Louise says:

He cut quite a fine figure here, didn’t he? He’s totally Sweater Boy. And that coat is FANTASTIC.

  7. lizzie says:

totally fab photos, so glad i found them at a friend’s facebook page: can’t understand how i never saw them before! and it looks like somebody’s lawn mower broke down… you noticed the photo was printed the wrong way, miss tammy! my friend anibal called me from spain and mentioned that – i hadn’t noticed. be well, everybody! r.i.p victor spinetti.

  8. Guus says:

Great puctures! Never seen before, where did you find such beauties?
    Thanks for posting!

  9. lizzie says:

guus, a facebook friend of mine here in brazil posted them in one of the groups i belong to and i mailed them to greg. but sean from the kenwood blog had posted them earlier yesterday. i don’t know where they got them. they are stunning, i don’t know why they were “hidden away” for so long…

  10. lizzie says:

mystery solved! she found them at the guardian photo gallery from yesterday i sent the link to everyone but didn’t get a chance to look at it yet: i have this annoying habit of having to work for a living… here’s the link to this specific article:

  11. jma689 says:

In the 3rd pic, was the dome under construction when the photo was taken or did it always look like that? For some reason, I imagined something more cozy…

  12. Kwai Chang says:

    possibly Hey Bulldog attire?

  13. Pete F. says:

@jma689: I remembered reading a while back about a moving platform under the dome. Sure enough, here’s the link (check out the newspaper clipping):

  14. Tammy says:

This is the best view we’ve ever had of the internal workings of the stoner dome, it really looks like an amazing construction, i ‘think’ it still may even be in the backyard at Cav last time i looked on Google earth.

  15. Guus says:

Thanks Lizzy, being in Portugal for a holiday, i enjoy my holiday even more!
By the way, i’m very near the place Paul stayed with Hunter Davies in dec68

  16. Hitachi says:

Awesome pics BUT can we date it and was there a reason for this very strange photo session???

  17. lizzie says:

hitachi, please check out the link i posted above and you will understand.

  18. Kwai Chang says:

what kind of grass is that anyway?
That pic in the green sweater is beyond strange.
How does he suddenly look like a plastic mannequin.
Maybe it’s a fisheye lens or something in the fx dept.
…or was this just a hillbilly impression?
Cow-Poke-Paul McBeatle nailed it! Hee Haw from the Northerer…
We forgot the lens…get the corncob pipe

  19. Vin says:

Kwai, that’s just ordinary lawn grass gone to seed. Wheat is descended from wild grass, it says here. Not so much a hillbilly impression as a “country yokel” or bumpkin, as we say. And a wide-angle lens too close for comfort.

  20. Kwai Chang says:

    Righteous Vin!
    (Awe, shucks!)

  21. Bluesdude says:

I actually saw a fly-over photo taken above Paul’s house in 1973 and this thing, or at least the roof, was still there.

  22. Alpha Bitch says:

    What a great collection!
Love seeing all the bits and pieces from that time, the green chair from the Edwardian suite (I believe Linda had that set hauled off to the dump), the long grass in the back yard and best of all — the Stoner Dome!

  23. George Tebbens says:

The lawn “gnomes” are actually characters from Alice In Wonderland. The girl is, of course, Alice, The Queen of Hearts is on the right, and you can make out The Mad Hatter in the middle.
