I’m very disappointed in Yoko and I might as well express it here. Yesterday, she introduced a tribute to Steve Jobs in which the Flaming Lips played a cover of Revolution. As usual, in her passive-aggressive way, Yoko introduced the song as “a John Lennon song.” She never once mentioned the Beatles, even though Steve Jobs was a Beatles fan — not a fan of their solo work. According to his biography, Steven Jobs only had Beatles songs on his iPod. He didn’t have ANY of the ex-Beatles solo songs. He valued them as a band and the way they inspired each other to produce perfection in their music.
Why on earth, after all these years, couldn’t Yoko honor Steve Jobs, and his love for the Beatles, without turning her speech into a marketing promo for Lennon’s solo work. She repeatedly used phrases from Lennon’s solo songs like “power to the people” to talk about Jobs.
What is wrong with her that after all the years, she still acts like the other Beatles didn’t matter. /rant
