Don’t know why this reminds me of 1980 John…………..I think it’s the fingers…

I’m seeing the back of the BEATLES VI Album cover

  8. Jeff says:

Also seeing the Nobody Told Me 45 record sleeve photo of John and Yoko at the outdoor cafe, with John lighting his cigarette.

  9. Since 1963 says:

    Jeff, I agree. Quite striking.

  10. Jorge says:

That’s the one Jeff! I knew it reminded me of a particular pic from 80′

  11. mark says:

    Looks rather Dylanish to me.

    Safe As MONO…
Apparently, the 2009 momentum is still doing kinetic magic with the ‘remasters’ campaign. The Beatles In MONO(the cd box set) never did materialize in a vinyl incarnation during 09-09-09’s turn-me-on-boxset mayhem. Well, all of us eccentric purists that want to feign the ‘esoteric’ satisfaction available only via the Neumann Cutting Lathe at Abbey Road Studios are finally scheduled to be included in the fruity bliss that is now resembles a five year old apple. Will it be worth the wait???(Sept. 9, 2014).
Or, should we not count our apples before they hatch?
The official campaign promo short emphasizes how The Beatles considered MONO the definitive format. So much so, that I can’t imagine them needing ANY remastering at all. So, I can hardly wait to hear how they’ve manually corrected every ‘ssss’ time there was an ‘S’ in the lyric. I don’t comprehend things like that when the early 80’s Japanese release of the entire MONO album catalog was done perfectly.
    (Tube/Valve Amplifier not included)

  15. Alex of Bronx says:

You ever think we are getting jerked around by all these re releases. Think how many times we all bought the same stuff over and over. Apple more then made up whatever $$$ they lost in the last sixties/early seventies. Amazing.
They seem to understand they don’t have to release unreleased stuff yet, when they can still make a ton of cash off of re issues.

  16. Michael says:

    Oh yeah… Happy Birthday, Paul!

  17. Kwai Chang says:

    Marketing strategies abound…
and, yet, the ‘physical format’ is named obsolescent and is about to roll over and ‘play’ dead. It’s true…the best fidelity is going to be enjoyed via magnetic condenser cartridge w/ diamond stylus played through a valve amplifier…but, it’ll cost over $400 to find out if the records were even pressed properly. Thank God, that the folks at EMI Toshiba in Japan dispatched a team to Abbey Road (back in the 80s) to guarantee the correct masters/matrices were pulled to cut their new stampers on said Neumann lathe. So, I may be pleasantly convinced when these hit the shelves…but, at that point, the REAL news may be “Shoulda bought them in ’82 on red wax”.
    Land Of The Rising MONO!
    Please, pass the soy sauce…

  18. MarkC says:

Jimmy Page must be running Apple marketing.

  19. Kwai Chang says:

    @MarkC…(re:Page)
    Which-shell-is-the-‘instrumental version’ under?
I’m not sure I needed to marinade 40+ years for that…but, at least it’s not a ‘Clarksdale’ singalong down at the pub. As if there was some technical reason that the Immigrant Song couldn’t be mixed decently in ’71. Will I EVER get to hear the nearly-30-minute version of The Beatles Helter Skelter? I think I might…but, will it be the alternate instrumental version???
    (Ugh!)

  20. MarkC says:

    Indeed Kwai!

  21. Lizzie says:

I will have to go to one of my collector friend’s houses to listen to these albums – I’m sure they will buy them. I haven’t had a record player since I moved back to Rio from New York (94). It’s raining and cold here, I have the England x Uruguay game on and I have to get back to figuring out the right date for the photos in my book (a task that can drive a person semi-crazy…). Cheers, everyone!

  22. Jorge says:

Cheers to you Lizzie! And I hope Colombia doesn’t have to play Brazil until at least the semi finals 😉

  23. Shaaron says:

Good call Jeff! A car and a room… Thanks for the photographer ID, so important to give credit for these great moments. And of course, thanks Tammy!

  24. Don Percy says:

With apologies to Miss Tammy, if anyone is a fan of good short films, please help out a fellow Beatle Nut by supporting mine:

Graham Gouldman was a great lyricist equal to Lennon on many levels. I think he may have read (and LOVED) John’s books…
