Run Of The Mill is my favorite song off of All Things Must Pass.
it’s you that decides
Hog Hill Mill Studios, East Sussex, February to March 1994. That is a C 414 EB microphone, and you can spot former Abbey Road Studios’ Baldwin electric harpsichord – the one used on “Because” and “Real Love” to the left of George.
Those C 414 EBs were made from 1976 to 1979. Talk about vintage sound.
Damn, henry…
I love any talking horse…
Mr. Ed was cool…
but when henry runs…
(the knowledge of flight without leaving the ground…VERY cool)
thanks, brother
Henry The Horse, this still ( Video ) was taken in March 1995, a week before I visited Paul at The Mill.
It’s actually a Baldwin Spinet that you see, as you said, the very instrument that John played on Because, it was in the exact same spot that Paul rolled his sleeves up and played it to me.
If you type in ”The Mill” on Tammy’s search you’ll see a few pictures of me with Paul standing by the isolation booth and window, as seen on this still.
Cute picture – what else can I say about George? He was and always will be the GREATEST!
Peter … your memories are wonderful additions for all fans! Thanks for taking the time to share them with us!
Peter,
Very cool photographs and experience, and even cooler that you found unreleased recordings of the Beatles in your attic. Maybe, Paul calls it Baldwin Spinet, but it is documented to be a Baldwin Combo Harpsichord, as seen here:
http://www.baldwinharpsichord.com/
And the book Recording the Beatles, by Kehew and Ryan. A Baldwin Spinet is a type of upright piano with the frame folded to allow fitting into a smaller sound box. And, of course, a spinet is an instrument similar to a harpsichord but smaller, such as virginals. It usually has the keyboard oblique – almost perpendicular – to the strings. Talking about pianos. That seems to be a Steinway Model B grand piano behind the Baldwin harpsichord, same model as the one that was in EMI Studios No.2 and No.3 during the 1960s. Very cool talking to you, Peter.
Regards
Thank you, henry and Peter…
@ J R Clark:
You seem to mistakenly believe that racist remarks like the one you’ve just posted are amusing.
You should probably stick to commenting on Youtube for now, at least until you’re out of your teens.
JR’s comments have been removed from several posts, if i’ve missed any of these racist missives please point them out. Miss Tammy (She of Asian family)
Henry, yes it’s a 1938 steinway Grand, Paul compoed ”A Leaf” on it…..
We spent a bit of time playing it together.
I’ve got a photo of Paul playing The Spinet, I will post it to Tammy later
