So nice to see these four photos all together. I had never seen the bottom one.
It’s heartbreaking to think what was going to happen in a very few short hours….:(
… these pictures taken from the their apartment in the Dakota…?
Taken in Studio One, the downstairs office in The Dakota.
I’ve got to agree with you right there Nick – I wonder what time these were taken?
PS He looks so thin – poor John R.I.P.
thanks a lot tammy.
I had never seen the last one
Yes, the last one was new to me too. I can only guess, i think the pics were taken approx 4.30pm. The inyerview finished around 4.00pm.
Thanks for posting these, the last one was new to me as well. : )
great photos from a day that ended very sadly… thirty two years on, it’s still hard to believe that he is gone. his memory … talents and humor live on!
I so wish there was also some Videotaping from John & Yoko’s RKO interview. Great candids:)
Since no one has said anything that bottom photo is Bert Keane national promotions director for Warner Brothers records which distributed Geffen records at that time. He was part of the RKO team that showed up for John’s last interview that day.
John’s hands look huge.
So glad to see these. For a long time i was afraid that the very last photos of John were with THAT PERSON who took him from everyone. I also hated to think that THAT PERSON was the last one to ever get John’s autograph. I love being reminded that what I thought for so long wasn’t true. That there were other photos from that day and that John’s last autograph was for someone who really appreciated it. Thanks for posting.
@ Greg ~ I know what you mean. I’m also glad to keep being reminded that John was happy and looking great on December 8th. Recently watched the Jack Douglas interview by Tom Snyder on December 9th, and he kept saying how happy and excited John was.
Love these photos and so heartbreaking to think about what happened that night. He looks so happy and so alive.
It’s funny, see, i don’t see it as sad .. i know what happened later obviously, but it’s the same when i visited The Dakota, for about half a second i acknowledged the bad thing that happened, then i celebrated all the happy, and joyful times John and Yoko spent there. To allow any other thoughts to me gives power to the ‘Filth’, and i won’t allow that person to have that. For me all is fine in the world up until 10.48pm, after that i don’t want to know, before that John is alive and well, and still with us. Others thoughts may vary, this is just how i deal with it, and why i cling to, and love to treasure John in December.
That was my 20th birthday.
Wouldn’t you love to go back in time and be there to prevent it, and be the only one to know,……… I would.
great photos, thanks for posting! i think i told you all that i know the limo driver who was working for the rko people that day. he is a brazilian and told me details which i wrote down – have to look for those notes. he is a huge beatle fan and couldn’t believe it when john and yoko asked for a ride!
No, i didn’t know that Lizzie!, PLEASE find those notes for us x
i will, my dear. i saw them the other day while looking for stuff for my book.
Man…talk about eerie! I have a bad habit of just looking at the pictures(and not reading anything) and even then, these pics were giving off a darkness. At first I thought it was the sunglasses. Now, I just read the caption and finally realized that it’s the date. Spooky!
Lizzie, please, write that book before I grow to old to read it!
