Top photo looks like it was from 1972, during rehearsals for the One to One Concert .
According to the photographer, that photo was taken after the One to One concert, at a Yoko recording session. So I’m guessing it was during the recording of Approximately Infinite Universe.
Are these Bob Gruen shots? The top one looks like it.
I think so .. i dunno who else was around.
Great pictures!
Thanks for these and all the other great pictures you shared with us today. : )
Datey ~ the top photo was taken by a woman named Joanna Garland. She’s a film editor who met John and Yoko in Washington Square Park in ’72. Tammy, a few months back I sent you the link that tells the story of this and two other cool photos she took of John.
Just curious, is that George in that picture?
Thanks Cara. From the way John looked, I knew it was from 1972 and not 1974 as the caption said. I don’t think John wore that shirt again after 1972.
Joy – That is not George Harrison. I believe he’s one of Elephant Memory’s band members, J & Y’s back up band in 1972.
I think it’s Rick Frank (Elephant’s Memory).
Not enough photos of john’s recording sessions
