The BEATLES logo that they came up with after this for Ringo’s drumhead is miles and beyond so much better than this one. Can’t see this one being iconic the way the BEATES logo is. That logo has been ingrained in my head for almost 50 yrs now.
Exactly Alex, this Beatles logo is too retro (bug themed)…the one we recognize is really timeless and unique!
Is this a lunchtime pep-rally in the Abbey Road cafeteria?
Perhaps at EMI Offices ‘green room’?
Nah! I bet this is just a private pre-release party at Dick James’ place…
Does anyone know if this is a promotional appearance/filming/news report… AND, is the album in the stores yet?
(if possible send a can of antennae remover)
E.M.I. House, Manchester Square, earlier evening of 5th April 1963. Photograph probably by Dezzo Hoffman. Private live performance for E.M.I. executives during a presentation ceremony to celebrate the award of the first silver disc for the single “Please Please Me”.
God, I love these Beatles fans, they know freggin everything, I mean literally every small detail
Now, i wouldn’t have minded a ticket to that
Glad they lost those terrible My Favorite Martian bug ears on the logo. Good call, Mr. Epstein.
Beautiful work…thank you, Sir!
So, this is a rather momentous occasion for them. If this is to celebrate the first silver disc in sales, they should have a look relief or elation on their faces. Instead, they look like workaholics and it’s just another day at the job. Maybe they felt the pressure rise and the adjustment is taking place right in this very picture. Their confidence is about to attain critical mass…
and the resulting fallout will cover the world…

Some Beatle pics look as if they could have been taken yesterday. And then there are pics that look every bit of 50 years old. This is one of the ancient looking ones. (But still great.)

Thanks for the link! Very cool pics!
Any idea what song(s) they performed?
That buggy guitar B and the rest of the script was based on a sketch by Paul. It truly is very early 60s isn’t it? I’m glad they changed it to Arbiter’s now iconic drop down T design though.
Someone please decode George’s chord, and the we can start figuring out what word Paul and John are mouthing together.
@Since 1963. Of course. Harrison is either playing a C octave on the 1st and 4th strings, or moving from one octave to another. If it was a C octave then they are playing “From Me to You”. Else they are playing “Please Please Me” or “There’s a Place”.
That’s some pretty fierce Waltzing…
(that was better than all the trampoline, hoops, garters or hog’s head of real fire…my regards to Mr. K and The Hendersons)
Second to none…indeed!
Thank you, ever so kindly!
