are they sleepy or stoned or do they just look normal? when i got to london at age 15, whenever they looked/sounded a bit odd i thought they were drunk. it took me a while to figure out about drugs. ok, i am naive, i know it.

the very first time I opened the Sergeant Pepper gatefold I was irradiated by that gaze…it was obvious to me…and I WANTED TO KNOW…”what do they know that I don’t know”…an hour later my older brother said “what are they doing that WE’re NOT doing?”…
I was only 7 but by the time I was 18 I knew exactly what it was…
John once said…”there’s two people flying on the cover”
    (John and Ring)

    dammit…I forgot again…
    the question was:
I thought they “look real straight” here…
but upon magnification, I think they just smoked a joint and they are ready to start the shoot…
this might be the first shot of the role…
remember…the higher the THC content, the more delayed the onset…
    of the much stronger high…
    THC is a psychedelic…
other shots from this session, they look mangled(but not tangled)

I just love all the ’67 sessions. It seems this particular jacket John is wearing has recently been put to auction.

My favorite Beatle period in terms of fashion.

  9. BLJ says:

Maybe they were prompt to pose that way by the photographer. You can never read too much in to a photo.

i don’t remember john wearing that jacket to the studios, but i remember (and it’s described in my diary) the day when he came with his sgt. pepper outfit on a hanger and i asked him what it was. he told me it was for the new album.
