Palomino Club in Hollywood, February 1987. Pictured between Dylan & George is Mark Shark, a member of the Graffiti Band which also included Taj Mahal on vocals & harp, the late great Jesse Ed Davis on guitar, Bobby Tsukamoto on bass, Gary Ray on drums & Jim Ehinger on piano.

That one night, Harrison, Dylan & John Fogerty got up from the audience and joined the band for a little fun. Taj Mahal has a grand old time throughout and George is beaming next to his hero Dylan. Someone managed to video most of the jam.

“Blue Suede Shoes” & “Proud Mary” sung by John Fogerty & George

“Honey Don’t” sung by our George

“Peggy Sue” & “Dizzy Miss Lizzy” sung by George & Dylan

“Matchbox” sung by Taj Mahal & George

“Johnny B. Good” & “Hand JIve” sung by Taj Mahal & everyone

Oops, that last link is wrong. Here’s the correct one:

“Johnny B. Good” & “Hand JIve”

  3. ALEX OF BRONX says:

Wasn’t it at this jam when they told John Fogerty to strt performing live again or else people will think Tina Turner wrote Proud Mary ?

  4. db says:

From the so-called ‘Silvery Wilburys’ gig, praps?

  5. C3BlueNote says:

is George playing on Rocky? Haven’t seen the video yet…so can’t see the front of his strat. Wonder if this was premeditated?

  6. ALEX OF BRONX says:

John Fogerty could have been a Wibury, he would have fit right in with those guys.
George always maintained that John would have been a Wibury also.
Ringo would have fit in also.

  7. C3BlueNote says:

I’ve always wondered what it would have been like if Dylan and John had collaborated on a project together…very similar in approach to songwriting. One of those “What ifs” I suppose.

    Hey Pete,

I was at this show sitting stage right closest to Dylan. What a surprise to see Bob and George sitting on barstool swhen forst entering the club.Jackson Brown was also there in the audience although he didn’t jump into the fray.

You have any audience shots? Me and about four of my friends attended to see Taj Mahal. I have lived in LA for about a month and though this was de riguer.
