Thank you for sharing this amazing photo!! I love John’s hands and that gorgeous ring he’s wearing.
I love especially John’s 1980 photos! I found many of these rare gems on your page. Thanks for sharing these and just keep on doing this continously!

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I’ve never seen this one before. I’m guessing this was sometime in November or so, judging by the length of John’s hair. Any idea exactly when it was taken?
The perspective in this photo is all wrong to my eyes:
- Look at how “short” John’s arms seem.
- Where does his arm go- you can see the shoulder of the jacket, but then the sleeve doesn’t appear to go anywhere- some hands just pop out, where are the elbows?
Is this a composite photo? Please don’t take offense, it just doesn’t look right to me.
ADAM, YOU ARE RIGHT
adam and anonymous, you are both right. a few of my friends and i had noticed that there’s something strange about this photo – mainly his arm/elbow.
I think the reason is that john is not wearing correctly the jacket, it is just hanging over his shoulders, giving the illusion that his arms are shorter, when in fact his arms are occluded by the jacket.
I’m pretty certain that the reason this photo looks a bit odd is that the original was an incomplete photo that has been colour matched and edited in a paint program.
Look just above John’s right sleeve, you can see a pretty clear joining point, and there seems to be some ghost piano keys lurking in the background from where the photo has been shifted around to make the match.
Nice find though, never seen it before.
