Interestingly, this would appear not to be the same Fender Jazz bass Paul played during the White Album sessions. Now I have to wonder which bass was the backup during the “Wings Over America” tour in 1976.

This bass had the more common ‘clover-leaf’ tuners and dark Fender logo on the headstock. The ’67 bass had oval ‘lollypop’ tuners and a gold logo. The lack of the phrase “Jazz Bass” by the logo is very strange, and not normally seen until Fender began making basses in Japan some years after this photo would have been taken.

I’m still wondering if anybody else has ever
taken any recording gear near salt water.
Was anything USABLE from these so-called sessions?
(Yes, they discovered SPF 45 is a great varnish remover)

That bass looks like ballast for the craft…

Wings In A Dingy: So was the band allowed to sleep on board the studio?
I get visions of Denny and Joe rowing the lifeboat(raft?) back to shore every night while Jimmy chums the water with wino junko regurgitate.
