Still reeling from the Jazz Woodbine at the palace – if only that story were true! Or maybe the lack of herbal refreshment at Buck House was made up for on the ride to the press conference here at the Saville Theatre.
here is the Lennon that I love the most…
on the verge of mental combustion and a curtain of hair to hide behind!
Snide, arrogan, rude…clever, smart, witty…challenging, prodding, bluffing…polite, coy, naive…handsome, innocent, sexy…true, false, maybe…
something borrowed and never returned
(it was brown)
hahaha………….hahaha………….oh, now I get it
Buck House=Buckingham Palace???(sorry)
and what was John’s later tone regarding her majesty?
didn’t he say something like
“when she looked at Ringo, I saw her look down at him…I couldn’t believe it…then she looked at me…and instantly, I knew it was true…SHE BELIEVES IT!!!(the royalty thing)…
I was disappointed, but not surprised”
(is that clouded memory even close?)
For me, the best political maneuver ever…
returning the MBE(“Mr. Brian Epstein”) because Cold Turkey only charted at 17 (or somesuch)…Biafra was secondary…
and finally,
had Brian Epstein received an MBE with them, he would still be alive today…I think he believed in blue-blood…mi opinion y nasa mas
I don’t recall ever seeing a quote like that from John about QEII. I know at the press conference they asked each Beatle what she said to them and John said “I told her we were on holiday because I couldn’t remember what we were doing.”
From the tone of the quote, I think it’s from a later period. Vaguely familiar. But it echoes an early quote found in “The Beatles – Words Without Music”:
Question – Does all the adulation from teenage girls affect you?
John – When I feel my head start to swell, I look at Ringo and know perfectly well we’re not supermen.

I don’t remember where…I think it was pre-internet
(I really don’t want to reread any interviews…but thank you)
It will reappear…I loved it…
John looks great here though it looks like he darkened his hair. It’s usually more red.
