    You need to eat some food love.

    Ouch. That creature in the tub with him looks like she’s been in a concentration camp or something. Yikes!

  3. Cara says:

    Yeah I’ve seen this picture before and it totally creeps me out. And the fact that the woman looks like she’s at death’s door is the least of the reasons.

  4. amanda says:

    it is really weird…who is that girl?

  5. Anonymous says:

    Disturbing!

  6. princess s says:

    get real guys, its a bath tub, not a coffin. Notice the taps ?
    artistic statement, not at all disturbing

    I don’t see this as a tribute at all and I can’t imagine what Sean’s reasoning was to do it. And yes, whoever the girl is, she looks like she has an eating disorder!

  8. Anonymous says:

    Tribute or rip-off? Too bad he can’t attract attention by his talent. Unfortunately he’s got more Ono genes than Lennon in that regard. When all else fails and no one is interested any more, invite some kind of controversy. Weak. Sorry to sound like a bummer but it’s the way I see it.

    Sean doesn’t seem to be doing much music wise but julian lennon after ten years has completed an album and thats coming out.This sean picture probably has succeeded because its attracted alot of comment,i’d rather hear a good song though.

  10. Debjorgo says:

    Lighten up folks. I’m sure this happened spontaneously. Someone thought bathtub. He got in with his clothes on. She took hers off. He looks like John Lennon. She’s almost posed like…. Hey, bring your knees up a little. Yeah , that’s it. Hold.

    And I don’t think she’s as skinny as she looks. Those ripples are in the water.

    Sean could cash in big time if he wanted. Redoing John’s songs, updating them, grunge, punk.

    Or, rockin’ his own songs more.

    Or, get professional writers, pay to have his name added to the writing credits, hire a hot new producer, use pitch control (Sean doesn’t have much in the high tone range).

    Sean could be emo, easily.

    But he sticks to his own muse.

  11. Anonymous says:

    Sticks to his own muse? Does that mean he stinks in his own right? If his dad weren’t John, he couldn’t get a recording contract if he paid the record company to sign him. There’s far more talented people out there starving for the shot he’s been given just because of his last name. If he were worthy, all well and good. Unfortunately, he’s not.

  12. Anonymous says:

    Then you never saw Sean live. He’s a genius.

  13. Debjorgo says:

    Sean quote from Wikipedia: “I think I found the only label on the planet who doesn’t care who my parents are and what my name is. It’s a good feeling to know that I wouldn’t have gotten the offer if they wouldn’t have liked my songs.”

    This was shortly after his first album when he was on Grand Royal Records. He last album was on Capitol. They must have liked the songs because he already proved he wasn’t going to be terribly commercial, even with the Lennon name.

    I like about half of his songs. I wish he would put out more albums. I almost have a great best of Playlist for him now.

    And anonymous, you realize you were dogging Sean on his birthday. Very cruel. If Capitol hadn’t signed Sean, I guess they could have signed another runner-up from American Idol.

    ~~~ And anonymous, you realize you were dogging Sean on his birthday. Very cruel. ~~~
    I would certainly hope Sean isn’t worried about what goes down on blogs. And birthday or not, I have a feeling Sean has a much thicker skin than the ones on Idealogue fans.
  15. Anonymous says:
    Sean Lennon a genius. Hmmm. Let me guess… Yoko is too, right? I’ll not comment as those sentiments speaks volumes. Re: Sean/Grand Royal Records… well what do you expect him to say?!? He could say that but it doesn’t make it true. Why on Earth do you think he got signed? You got it; and was that such a long walk to make? And if his last name wasn’t what it is, he couldn’t even cut it on American Idol as most of the people on there can at least sing. They don’t have much talent and the emphasis is on entertainment, but they’re still one up on Sean. Sorry if the truth perturbs you folks. He can’t attract a buzz through his music so he has to court weak “controversy” with an even weaker photo. It would be funny if it wasn’t so patently artificial.
    I’m looking forward to julians album that will be coming out in 2009,its completed,i’ve been reading the debate and comments about sean its quite a laugh.It’s amazing what a photo can do.
  17. Debjorgo says:
    Sean may read these comments. I know he’s a Beatles fan and this is an excellent site. He is a real person. Kind people aren’t usualy as critical with someone on their birthday, regardless of whether they can take it or not, which I’m sure Sean can. Even on a blog, you can be civil.
    Everything I’ve seen about Sean indicates he is not looking to create a buzz. He played bass behind Cibo Matto for about 5 years, just playing in the background.
    He also played in a band called IMA on a great album called Rising. You might want to check it out if you like dark, hook laden grunge rock.
  18. Anonymous says:
    I wasn’t anything but civil. You just don’t like hearing what I’ve said.
    There is not an artist that has been born that does not want his/her work to be seen, heard, or appreciated. Which leads us back to that pesky photo. It’s a weak ploy to get attention as he can’t get it any way else. It’s unfortunate but true. And he had a pretty impressive video tie in for the first LP as well as the second. What was all that for, self-satisfaction? And he still couldn’t sell! I reiterate: there are far more talented people out there starving for their art that would kill for the shot he’s been given because of his last name. They have to EARN their shot and maybe get a little lucky too while Sean gets it handed to him and can’t deliver. It’s a simple fact and I’m sorry if you don’t like hearing it. Check out his Letterman appearance on youtube. What he lacks in talent he also lacks in charm – a lot like his mom. I’m a JL fan, chief, doesn’t mean I have to blindly admire his son (or his wife, for that matter). And please don’t try to educate me on the merits of Yoko Ono and what JL said about it. What he said in public and thought or did in private were often at odds.
    THIS IS THE VOICE OF THE MYSTERONS, WE KNOW THAT YOU CAN HEAR US ..
    Tammy here having to chime in again, please keep in mind the fun and non serious nature of the blog when commenting, it’s not all that serious, opinions are like constricted sigmoid muscles, we all have one.
    As for the pic, who knows what he was thinking when he allowed it to be taken, the only problem i have with Sean is when he first started off he slagged off the Beatle fans who followed his career and was supporting him, i always thought it was kinda funny how Sean wanted to be taken serious as an artist but it took him something eight years to release another solo album .. anyway, i’m not really dissing him, i like him and his music, the Cibo Matto cd’s are two of my faves and for a really cool performance by Sean i urge everyone to hop over to youtube and search ‘Sean lennon sail on sailor’. i can see and appreciate both sides of the debate, and for what it’s worth as much as i love Julian’s last album he was pretty happy to sit back after that and coast, but during the promotion for it grisled about not being taken serious as an artist.
    If you read this sean,julians releasing an album finally,i remembered last time you happened to release yours on the same day.This photo is along the same lines as a photo of john and yoko taken in i980,which appeared on the cover of rolling stone when it looked like john was trying to mount yoko.Remember also the nude john and yoko two virgins cover,no bath tub involved.This photo is tame by those standards but probably creepy.
  21. Anonymous says:
    Thanks for your excellent photo and comments tammy we love you,yes ,don’t take it too seriously folks its all cool.
  22. Debjorgo says:
    Oh, please don’t destroy us, oh powerful one!!
    I actually thought I was being playful with the birthday comment (I never get special treatment on my birthday anymore) and it was Seans birthday (my way of pointing that out).
    I just like Sean. I remember from the Lost Lennon broadcasts here in the states:
    “I like it LOUD!!!” “I know when the end of the world will be. It will be *j@!%%i. You see I’ve learned that language and that’s the only language I’m gonna say it in.”
    It can’t be easy for Sean or Julian, the tragedy they have seen. I mean I had a rough childhood but I never had a parent blown away on the street by a psycho.
    Thanks for the blog, tammy. I hope you noticed the little compliment I threw in there in one of my responses. I wanted to make sure I stayed on your good side.
    the double standard is bewildering. have some of you not seen some of the 1980 pics of john? where he is so thin that he looks GAUNT? so why the fuss about the girl?
    it is way, way past the time for us to move on.
