I’m guessing you can’t wash leather like normal clothes, can you imagine the pong and funk around the gusset of these clothes!?. Night after night of sweaty profusions, they probably filled their Beatle boots, with Beatle juice.

Off you go now Tammy and take a cold shower.
A cellarful of boys…………..
Taken by Joe Flannery, fromer Beatles Booking Manager.
A great photo
Sorry to nitpick, but Joe Flannery didn’t take this photo and he was not the Beatles booking manager. All the same, what a truly fantastic photo.
Miss Tammy! Down girl! Have some control! NOT!
From leather to suits…
and the sacrifice had begun.
I guess it’s true…America was so square in February 1964 that it had to be suits. This wardrobe would have been like a bad card trick on Ed Sullivan. I mean, Marlon who? The Wild WHAT? Remember, America traded in the black leather for Bermuda Shorts and crewcuts. Hmmmmmmm…
So, I’ve always thought that this was the most authentic period for them…in their own minds.
Thankfully, America’s commercial potential didn’t get Brian to dream up Bermuda Shorts and flat tops…(and flip flops).
The brilliance of The Beatles is that it didn’t really matter what they wore, stanky leather or tailored suits. Eppie felt he had to water them down (hose them off?) to make the world stage, but the ultimate irony is that they still managed to look cool and subversive in straight clothes.
Whether in suits or not-they did NOT look ordinary. They still had THOSE haircuts.
