Would make educated guess that the James Paul McCartney 1974 ATV special is the source of this knees-up. If BPB fans check their bootleg DVD of the show they may well see the name of the pub on the Wirral (which I have forgotten despite living just across the Mersey, well my last drink was in 1992 so thank you Dr. Bob and Bill W.!)
