That Rocky Horror/Rolling Stones neon lips looks great on the living room wall…but, where to put that bulky ballast/transformer?!?!?
Man, this looks like 1968…except for the pants.
(the first Beatle in bell-bottoms???)
So, what is it?
A Marantz full-size console from a local garage sale?
A second hand U-matic video tape deck?
Home repair of George’s moog?
A 4-track Studer!!!
Somebody…check Lizzy’s pulse!
but, who’ll remember the buns?
We both will.
Hey, mister…your left turn-signal is still on
I finally got around to reading the caption…
(I guess it’s a jukebox)
I’m pretty sure these were taken in the afternoon of the Grammy awards, there are a ton of great photos from this day, which confuse me no end as to what floor the Dakota apartment is actually on, I know it’s the 7th floor, but there are photos that show John inside, but it looks as if he’s looking out at the top of the roof, which could make it 8 or 9. I can feel a post coming up.
Their main Dakota residence is #72 on the 7th floor, but the Lennon’s also own several other units on different floors in the building.
Yeh, these pics bare that out, you can tell by some photos have the black rail across the windows, and every outside pic that is pointed out as being Johns bedroom has the black railing, but the Dec 8 pics of John sitting in his bedroom window show no railing, I have a billon photos in and around the Dakota, but the more I see, the more I get confused.
Not only did he own multiple apartments in the Dakota, but he also had more than one jukebox. Seem to recall John talking about a Wurlitzer bubble tube that played only 78s. Brian Hamill took this photo and many other fab ones the same day (including on the roof).
P.S. John’s head is blocking it, but he has the famous Jurgen Vollmer photo (cover of Rock & Roll) on the wall.
dear kwai, my temperature ain’t rising right now: i’ve seen that photo before! best regards to all on this lovely page: i’m off to the pool for some exercise. the sun is out, the sky is blue and i feel fine.
Ah yes Miss Lizzie, it’s almost pool weather here too, just about to take delivery of my 2013/14 range of ‘Tammys cabana wear’.
Could this have been the office John had downtown? Where the French TV interview was done during this same period? If someone knows for sure it’s the Dakota then I bow to your superior knowledge of John’s interiors!
Get on your knees Datey . . and start bowing, this is deffo the Dakota as other photos from this session show, where John is in the kitchen and on the roof, where by then he’d pretty much put his Grammy clothes on. There are two grey areas from this period which throw me, the French interview which I thought was the Dakota because of the white interior and the presence of the white directors chairs from the Dakotas kitchen, and then another ‘Beige day’ photo where John is leaning up against a window with Central Park behind him, but it sure doesn’t look like the Dakotas interior, Scott Raille and Chip Madinger would almost certainly know, but the buggers know the pain, frustration and anticipation I’m feeling over my John dates, so I think they’re purposely holding up the release of their mega Lennon book ‘Strange days’ just to tease me and keep me in agony (I hope it lasts)
Anthony Fawcett’s book says all the photos were taken in the Dakota, if that means anything. (Much less impressive than Tammy’s knowledge of John’s interiors, I realize…)
You gotta dig those neon lips though!
From around the same time, you may have never seen this: http://i.imgur.com/yNhNmgY.jpg
