I have always found this letter facinating, just another glimpse into the complex man John was, Cyn mentions that John was Mean to her mother Lill and especially so at the time of their divorce, but here we see John years later sending what appears to be genuine warm and loving greetings, for all John’s rantings and i’m not too certain what he says in the ‘Lennon remember’s’ interviews (but who did escape unscathed in that interview?) but i dont really recall John ever slagging off Cyn in public after their divorce, even in the Playboy interviews when John mentioned her he still referred to her as ‘Cyn’, just another tragedy that he didnt live to really resolve so many of his past relationships. Somewhere out there i know there was a photo printed in an old fanzine that had John and Cyn together at Disneyland in 1974 with Julian and May, what i would give to find that .. if anyone has it or knows who may have a copy please let me know as that is one family photo i’d love to publish, i know it wasnt good quality but it’s the only pic i know of that has John and Cyn together after the divorce.

    I love the letter also.

As for John slagging off Cyn, he has in some ways: in Skywriting a Word of Mouth he mentioned about living with her new nose, he has said in interviews that he has never known love like he has with Yoko before.

However I do find it interesting that John has been calling Cynthia “Cyn” since 1958 when they got together until his death. It could have been a force of habit but I like to think not. I’m a sucker for John and Cynthia romance! Have more of them please!

I once felt the early romance feelings that must have brought John and Cyn together, then I read Cynthia’s latest book “JOHN” and recall some of her last words in that book. If she had to do it over again (choose a life without him) she said that she would have lived her life without John Lennon. Very powerful words.

She is bitter, and rightfully so.

May I ask the source of this letter?

Who owns it-did you get it at an auction? Just wondering what the source of this letter is from?
Thank you and I look forward to your reply!

    I wish i did own it :-)

I dunno, just found it on the net somewhere, i think it's part of the stash of letters that Cyn sold off, which is kind of funny as Julian had to end up buying some of his mums stuff back as well as his dads, tho typical of Paul HE actually brought some items back for Julian at auction and gave them to him, including a set of lyrics for Hey Jude.
