A truely rare & bizzare pic. Circa Feb – Mid April 1976? Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling this was taken at an airport? John had his hair cut short maybe Dec 1975/Jan 1976 and his new greencard pic was taken around the same time. John & Yoko were known to visit Boston etc looking for property in early/mid 1976 so its possible this was at an airport. Keith was on tour with the Stones in Europe from April 28 and was rehearsing for at least a week or two before that in France. Any theories peeples?
I first saw this pic over on the Meet The Beatles For Real site. Unless anyone can prove otherwise I’m dating it to Jan-Feb 1976 when Mick and Keith were in NYC to mix the Stones’ album ‘Black and Blue’. From the clothes they’re wearing it looks like winter. And you’re right, Hitachi, for most of the spring/summer Keith was in Europe on tour with the Stones. He was in London at the end and start of the year before flying to Toronto to rehearse with the Stones where the infamous heroin bust occurred.
Whew, Keef…looking ROUGH!
Wow, I would love to know the story of this photo. I do know, however, that Keith was with Anita Pallenberg in Switzerland in late March of ’76 when his son Tara was born and that he stayed with her for about a month before going on tour, so once again Datey has really zeroed in on the timeframe.
Who wants to talk to the cops?
Beat it, keef!
(the walking bust)
I wish I had some insights on the photo. I won it from the Lennon lot of photos from Backstage auctions. It was just mixed in the lot with a bunch of other photos. I had never seen this one before and I didn’t even recognize Keith. So thanks to everyone who has helped me understand this one a bit more.
@Sara…
Thank you…
(Is it Keef…OR, ‘Kif’???)
Can you say “hot buttered bhang” anybody…
or better yet…King Of The Poppy
I’m thinking 1971 myself…
No way is it 1971
