11th July 1964, rehearsal for the summer version of Thank Your Lucky Stars TV show, Summer Spin, Teddington Studio Centre in Middlesex, between 1.45 and 5.50 pm. The Beatles flew from Liverpool to London after the premiere of A Hard Day’s Night, on the 10th July, and after a failed attempt at filming an interview at Aston, went to Teddington by boat to avoid fans.

Henry, I thought they tried to film the whole show (including songs) on 5 July at the TV studios in Birmingham – not just an interview (would seem an unneccesary exercise, if that was the case). What’s your source for that? There was considerable grumbling baecause TYLS was normally taped on a Sunday to be shown the following Saturday but because of the current ITV technicians strike thay had to drag themsleves away from Liverpool (and the AHDN party) to come back to appear live in Teddington later that day.

Was this the last gasp for Liverpool Loyalty?
Or was the film premiered in each city on different dates?
I figured London was the HDN place-to-be…shmooooze

They played several more shows in the city at the Empire and of course, they went back individually for family related vists. The London premiere of AHDN occurred on Monday the 6th July; the Liverpool one on Friday the 10th which took place under the auspices of a civic reception for Liverpool’s finest. Of course the mutterings about now being London domiciled rankled civic pride. There is a great interview during the airport press reception covered by Granada television where John cuts to the heart of the matter:
