I saw this photo years ago in a Bowie book, the book was too expensive to purchase for one photo, and i thought i’d see the photo turn up somewhere, but years and years past, i recently started to think i hadn’t actually really seen the photo. Thanks to a reader .. who i forget exactly who it was that sent me this, i can now see i wasn’t dreaming.

Do you remember which David Bowie book this pic was from? Would be nice for any of us to look for it and make a better scan.

To my knowledge, Lennon never met Bowie in Japan.
This was taken in Hong Kong 1977 or 1979 it came from a magazine i think Q magazine and is from the personal collection of David Bowie i made a scan of it….
John met up with Bowie and Iggy Pop in Hong Kong in ’77. Don’t know if that’s when this photo was taken, but it may well have been.
They were staying at the same hotel in Hong Kong and by chance ran into each other in the hotel lobby which lead to a little reunion and this photo.

The only time I’d seen this picture before was on a VH-1 special about Lennon in the late 90′s. They did several, and I don’t know which one it was.
Nishi F. Saimaru’s book mentions this meeting and has photos from earlier the same day, June 1977
