Thank you very much for posting this, it’s nice to have a digital copy of this picture as well. : )

  2. AuroraSkye says:

    VERY VERY lovely!

  3. Chris says:

I can’t stand when idiots call Yoko “ugly”! She was a sexy woman!!!!

  4. Slap says:

LOL Chris. Ummm…. beauty is in the eye of the be(er)holder ; – )

  5. anonymous says:

hey chris, i’m one of those idiots who was around when yoko first made the scene, and beside her howling and screeching the main reason she was’nt liked was because she was ugly. if that’s your idea of sexy good for you, but at that time for most of the world she was ugly. hey markzapp!! where the hell are ya???????

  6. eric says:

I think it was the plot to snare a Beatle for her own personal gain, the way she used John’s insecurities against him to keep him needing her, is what makes her ugly to me.

  7. Sophie says:

Hmm I’d rather not. I too am no Yoko fan. And I agree with Eric, I don’t know whether look-wise she is “sexy” or “ugly”. All I know is that the way she treated people – and a lot of those people who I love – automatically makes her look incredibly unappealing to me, to the extent where I don’t like pictures if she’s in them.
Beauty is certainly in the eye of the beholder. But she could be the most beautiful woman in the world, and it still wouldn’t make her attractive to me. It’s what’s underneath that ultimatley makes the most impact. And I can see very few redeeming qualities in her in terms of the way she treated people.

  8. BeatleMark says:

John said it all….”Yoko is the Nigger of the World”. I can see similarities in the lyrics based on his perception of his wife and the way the world looks at her. Eric’s comment is right on.

  9. Ben C. says:

Actually her looks, her voice, the way she treated people (John included; to say nothing of Julian, Cyn, and… well you get the picture), and her insistence that she was talented all serve to make her unattractive. I can’t see anything redeeming in her at all. I don’t care for photos of her either, but it’s refreshing to see I’m not alone. I didn’t think I was, but sometimes you have to hear it. The guy who commented on her way back in march of 09 has yet to be topped. I reread it every so often.

  10. Chris says:

Ben can you find that post from 09? I would like to read it.

  11. John says:

    Imagine wearing a bra

  12. Ben C. says:

Chris, it’s several posts and he/she did so anonymously. They sure said what they said well, though. I left a comment, too.

The comments were getting somewhat sticky and I just added that I enjoyed the whole thing. It wasn’t negative or angry with people swearing at each other, just an honest exchange of ideas. The one person’s comments in particular were just very well said. Go to the archives on this blog from March 2009 and look for the “Looking Good” caption. Or go here, LOL…

Hey anonymous, you out there?? That was good stuff. Gotta name?

  13. Tammy says:

A friend was with me last night and comment on the fact that a lot of the Yoko dislike comes from a racist perspective and was amazed that i’d allowed so many anti Yoko post to go through, i dont want to censor .. it just gets tiresome for me sometimes to have to keep reading base negative stuff, thats not what this blog has been about, i always say go to the forums if you want debate and negativity, besides including someones looks or body type with the words ‘ugly’ will never get my respect, there is enough negativity in the world .. i mean really, in the big picture it’s not important, and nothing i’m inyerested in continuing to hear, life is too short and nasty enough for everything to be painted in bitter sour shades.

  14. Shaaron says:

Are you “ugly”? What does it make you to say things like this about other people. What if she were your mother or sister or girlfriend? And who really knows what happened at any given time. We must remember that to have become that big and that famous there needed to be great ego involved. It’s not a negative thing, it just is. Now, John loved her and that was his business.

  15. Chris says:

Tammy very well said. I know for a fact that Asian’s get racist comments made about them! And Yoko is judged because she is Asian. I have heard the most homely white woman criticize Yoko for her looks. I thought to myself, are you kidding? She’s better looking than you! When was the last time you looked in the mirror! You’re fugly! That’s why you’re 49 and still single moron!

And I got many nice emails from Yoko. She sent me a lovely one after someone close to me died.

I think Yoko was quite sexy in her day. I probably would have gone for her. :)

  16. You can’t imagine the 70’s without hot pants! They were a form of liberation, how far can we go as teens. Exhibitionism 😛

  17. Anonymoustill says:

Yes, Ben, I have a name, and I guess I’m the guy you’re mentioning. For the record, I posted comments 6, 8, 10, 13, and 15 from 3/09. Nothing I said was racist, sexist, or in any way commenting on anyone’s appearance. I made statements and backed them up with facts. I haven’t been disproven. While I admit that what I wrote regarding J&Y isn’t necessarily pleasant, it has the virtue of being the truth as best as we know at this time. Those who have done the research know it anyway. It is what it is. If it is interpreted as negative, perhaps that’s because it isn’t what most want to read.

It amazes me how often people prefer image to reality.

  18. BLJ says:

People need to stop knocking Yoko. No one really knows her or knows what’s in her heart. They only know her via the media. John loved her so there must be some good in her.

  19. Sophie says:

^ Yes, that’s a common argument, and you’re right – we don’t know her and we don’t know what she was like.

However, it says a lot don’t you think, that everybody who DID know her (and particually those who were close to John, Paul, George and Ringo before her arrival), really can’t stand the woman? So many insiders of the Beatles world really “hated” her even, and that of course includes Paul and George, who often expressed their utter dislike for her.

No, we’ve not met or spoken to her. I’m sure she could be lovely at times, maybe. But I’ve heard enough stories and facts to make up my own opinion. I don’t like a lot of the things she did to people.

  20. BLJ says:

    To Sophie,
Paul, George, John and Ringo all got on each other nerves at times. I know at times they all did not like each other. So if they did not like Yoko she was not the only one they disliked. Beatles were like brothers have you ever seen brothers fight and sometimes when someone else come in the family who is not related this can sometimes be big trouble for the intruder.

Perhaps they would have liked her if she would have stayed out of the recording studio but from what I heard John wanted her there.

Sadly, even if she had stayed away the Beatles would have still broken up. They had known each other since they were kids each one them had grown and gone their separate ways.

Like birds they had to leave the nest and fly away.
    Love and Peace :) <3

  21. Chris says:

I don’t want to knock Yoko, but I really think The Beatles would probably have stayed together, if not a lot longer, if Yoko was not so involved with John and his artistic endeavors. I think Beatle fans are in denial about the fact that Yoko broke them up. And I think the other Beatles are afraid to admit that she was the straw that broke the Beatle’s back.

  22. Tammy says:

Hi everyone ‘IF’ .. that word, there are a million of them linked to the Beatles story, none of us can change past history, i think these comments are starting to just go round in circles, so lets draw a line under this right here. (Please see my post above)

  24. A different Jennifer says:

See, the problem here is that a lot of people are deifying the other Beatles (as so any say John is deified) by using THEIR opinion of Yoko (at the time) to back up these assertions being made of her character. Of course they didn’t like her! Here was a strong, independent woman who didn’t fangirl over their music, coming into their studio and sitting net to their John, whispering things in his ear. By all accounts, no one cared for it. Yet, John fell for Yoko whether you fans like it or not. He fell in love with her and he could have walked away ANY time if he wanted to. It’s easy to quote May Pang and these other “insiders,” but they also have used the Beatles/John stories to make $$ for themselves so why do I need to give them my undying respect?

Yoko, nowadays, has shown that you can actually get along with the ones who once “hated” you (and I don’t believe Ringo ever hated her…Paul? Yes. George? Sure. But Ringo was sort of nonchalant about her in general, especially after conversing with John.)

The truth is, no one really knows what went on between JOHN and YOKO except John and Yoko. These “insiders” are rather shady themselves (uh, Fred Seaman much?) and have an axe to grind with Yoko. She’s taken the high road and been so civilized, dignified, and classy…in my opinion, SHE is coming out a lot better than all the haters.
