Hi Tam, this pic was taken on the set of Granada TV on 25 November 1963 so will either be IWTHYHand or This Boy. You can just see the headstock of Paul’s bass at the edge of the pic. Merry Crimbo.

Actually, looking again, it could be the Thank Your Lucky Stars from 18 August when they did She Loves You. The background has most certainly been altered to take out the detail so hence my uncertainty. The barre chord George is playing might give it away?

I think it’s the earlier appearance judging by the hair and the many photos and the video from the November appearance.

Paul is playing his original ‘Cavern’ Hofner bass, so this would strongly suggest a date pre-October, when he took possession of the second model (the one he plays today). The Cavern bass has ‘Hofner’ in block letters running vertically down the headstock; the ’63 bass has ‘Hofner’ in a more cursive script horizontally across the top of the headstock. Once he got the new bass, the old one was only played sporadically afterwards.

It is from Thank Your Lucky Stars,18 August 1963.

  6. The photo is cropped, so it’s only half a bar chord

Ringo actually performed as a (visibly) ‘streaked’ Beatle?
“Man, that will cost us sales…”
    “Brian…get in here”
(Image and the subjectivity of it all)

Tell me that I wasn’t ‘sozzled’ with Christmas cheer when I actually commented on the ‘Old Drum Head’ post(3 posts above)…was that a bag of mistletoe that I pinched from? Anyway, my comment above is in the wrong place…with the right intent…before this dance is through, I may have smoked yours too…so, be careful what you bring near me.
I will go leave a comment there. Hide your bags!
