John was a bit of a closet Marley fan by all accounts, wasn’t he?
George must have been treated like royalty to any musical event he attended.
I remember seeing this photo back around 1975 in the Beatle fan magazine Strawberry Fields Forever.
Taken at one of Bob Marley’s concerts at the Roxy Theater in LA July, 1975. George hung out at a Stones concert at the LA Forum this month also. John and Ringo went to see Marley at the same venue (the Roxy) on May 26, 1976. Tammy has pasted pics of the two ex-Beatles (with Yoko) either leaving or arriving at the gig. Apparently Marley didn’t meet John for whatever reason and sent his guitarist Al Anderson (who you can see in the top pic on right) to meet J & Y instead.
Loved George’s look during this time. I have color pics of him in this jacket. Most impressive, but then George always had keen fashion sense. George said somewhere that Clapton was p.o.ed that he didn’t introduce him to Bob Marley. (Hey, you steel my song, mun. No love for you.)
George has short arms ? o a big head ?…always wonder.
