GEORGE IN ESPERANCE, PERTH AUSTRALIA 1984:

Years ago i was at a party talking to a guy, the subject got around to music and The Beatles, this guy said ‘Oh, i know George, he’s a family friend’, i kinda didn’t totally believe him, as you must agree, having Hari as a family friend is unique. He said ‘No, i can prove it’, he went to the bookshelf and pulled out a copy of ‘I Me Mine’ inscribd to him in Georges hand. In the last few days these pics have surface on the net, and i was blown away to see they are of the guy Simon i spoke to at the party, and of his family in Perth with George :-)

Well Tammy you have did it again. Just when I thought I saw every picture, I was wrong. I have never seen any of these photos before. Thanks for posting. George is gorgeous especially on the first picture.

George really should have sandals on if he’s going to sport socks that high!

Wow, great photos. I must admit, I have a hard time wrapping my head around a living-room sitar “performance” by GH!! I wonder, did George carry around his sitar in case he felt the urge to play it, did the sitar belong to the Perth folks or did George have a residence there?

I agree with BLJ: that first pic is very nice. Kinda reminds me of the black & white Hamburg photos of a young George with the big hair! Thanks for posting.

Hey Tam, isn’t this the visit from 1982? The pics I’ve seen of George in Oz from 1984 his hair is a lot longer – but maybe he had it cut while he was out there?

I’m torn Datey. In 1982 Olivia was with George and his hair was shorter than here, but you’re right, in 1984 it was a LOT longer. A mystery trip in 1983?, is this at the end of the Aussie 82 visit where Olivia may have gone home, but George stayed on?

A hard one to call – and I didn’t realize he’d gone over to Western Australia as well. All the known visits seemed to be Queensland, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide.

well hes wearing very different sunnies here than in ’82…. suppose he could afford more than one pair….

what year did the Harrison family do a road trip (Gorge was driving) down the east coast of Australia? was that 82?

Wow great photos of George. It must have been so cool for George to go around and not be recognized by people. I am sure he cherished those days. To know George, how cool must that have been?
