I guess Yoko clearly did take offense to Paul getting married on John’s birthday. Because why else would she schedule a party on June 18 in London to promote her art show, and why else would she choose June 19 to open her London art show?

Passive-aggressive BS continues on both sides, I guess. What a shame.

  2. Louise says:

P.S. I personally didn’t see anything wrong with Paul getting married on John’s 71st birthday. It was just 71. And John had had the world’s attention on his 70th.

But I do think it was kinda wack of Yoko to try and get steal the spotlight for herself on the week of Paul’s 70th birthday. 70 is a big milestone.

  3. Ishie says:

To each his own. I honestly never gave it a thought as to either Paul or Yoko planning anything intentionally on either dates to take attention away from the other. I would think that the ‘stealing the spotlight’ days were long gone.
I wish them both well and hope that they wish the same for one another.

    Shame in advertising?
(great promo for both…but was it needed)

  5. Lee says:

Fact is, Yoko staged a major PR blitz in London the week of Paul’s 70th birthday. If that isn’t trying to turn the spotlight on yourself, I don’t know what is. Yoko could have picked any week. She chose this one. Shabby.

I don’t know about the media ’round your way, but where I live the focus of any Beatle-related media this past week was about Paul’s 70th. Yoko and her ‘art’ was a few lines buried deep in the papers complaining about her “obvious and trite” art at the Serpentine Gallery.

  7. Tammy says:

Yoko also tweeted a lovely loving birthday message to Paul, AND when given the chance to take a swipe at him over RAM turned it around and praised him .. move along, nothing to see here :-)

  8. Tammy says:

Maybe Yoko was doing Paul a favour and drawing the media away, a lot of the Beatle family were there, as Paul stated, he was bunkering down and having a quiet day with his family, he wanted no attention, and no press. Yoko has been in London since Dhani’s wedding last weekend, which she attended with Paul and the other Beatle family.

Dates are dates. I don’t know why people automatically assume some sneaky distardliness is afoot when “events” fall on the same date. I really don’t think Yoko or Paul sit around checking their date books to see when anniversaries, birthdays, etc. conflict with each other.

I don’t think everything is rosy.
I found it weird that Paul put some of Linda’s Beatles pictures on his website, and a day later John and George pictures were off again.
I think the Lennon and Harrison estates objected.

  11. ALEX OF BRONX says:

I choose to believe Paul got married on John’s birthday as a tribute to him, people will neve forget Oct 09th as JL’s birthday, I don’t think people will remember it as Paul’s wedding anniversary.
Yoko’s motives I am not sure about, I am not a Yoko fan in any way or form , never was, never will be, so what I think about her is tainted , tainted for over 45 yrs. so take my opinions with a grain of salt.
I still think it’s funny that people consider her stuff art.

Well for those who are keeping score, in the States, Paul made the Time Cover for his 70th…have yet to see Yoko on the cover of Time, just herself of course. Best of love to both of them, really.

  13. BLJ says:

Joy, I agree with you one hundred percent.

  14. Karen says:

I tend to think Yoko didn’t plan it for Paul’s birthday, for the single reason that she probably doesn’t keep track of when Paul’s birthday is.

Hell, she didn’t even know the date of her own wedding!
