Nice pix of George in what I always thought was the low point of his career, in my opinion. Didn’t like Dark Horse, Extra Texture or didn’t like the tour, I was very disappointed when I saw him. Ravi and Billy Preston were excellant. This is just my opinion. I know it is hard maintaining a career for these many years and everyone has highs and lows but it seemed he had a bad attitude during that tour.
No worry Alex. All opinions are respected here.
Dark Horse came at the end of a ‘bad domestic year’ as George stated ie: ‘So Sad’ & ‘Bye Bye Love’. It was a period of personal change that reflected in his professional life. Yet, I think there were highpoint/heart felt moments on the LP.
In the same way, Extra Texture had a professional life moment with ‘This Song’ (‘He’s So Fine’/'My Sweet Lord’ lawsuit). Then, as an example there’s a great 4+ minutes with ‘Can’t Stop Thinking About You’.
In many instances, the autobiographical songs of any of the Beatles are gems that tell the story of their live and their truths. That’s the gift!
Ishie: “This Song” is on 33 1/3 not ‘Extra Texture.’
Ishie I do agree with you but I believe ” This Song ” is on 33 1/3 which I think is a very good album from 1976 along with the George Harrison Album that was released after it. I remember being happy he caught a second wind.
You’re right … my mistake. Thanks for correcting me.
Gorgeous photo! But Alex, I agree with you. I think George took a while to find his comfort zone in taking control of his own career and he was going through a rough patch then. Thank goodness it didn’t take him that long, though…
‘George Harrison’ is Miss Tammys all time favorite George album.
