I’ve a feeling this is not from 1968 but from the April 69 Ballad of John & Yoko yellow socks shoot.
I’d love to see the others that you mention.
I’m trying to recall the ‘Ballad of John & Yoko’ photo shoot and I can’t recall if Paul was wearing a bulky turtleneck sweater. I do remember his ‘yellow sock’ period. Did he wear the yellows in the Voyage of the Fritz sessions as well?
I’ll have to do some research on that!
Paul is clean shaven for “The Ballad Of John & Yoko” photos. I think that this IS from late 1968. It’s the same stubble shown in the “White Album” photo.
Markzapp … that sounds about right. I’d love to see other photos taken at this session. Some of the alternate shots from the “White Album” sessions are beautiful.
Its late 68 and theres a b/w of Paul , same polo jumper and hair, with Neil who has big moustache which he doesnt have in Apple office pictures of “Ballad of JY” or Fritz period.
And yes yellow socks in both of the latter.
Markzapp is correct. I must say I love that period group shots. That reminds me: A book by Don McCullin (Mad Day Out Photographer) is
about to be released. “A Day In the Life of The Beatles” must come with lots of alternate pics from the 68 period. I ordered mine.
Julo …. I bought the book earlier this week and you are in for a treat. The photos are fabulous! Enjoy!
I have seen one similar shot with Paul in the blue sweater.
Perfection indeed! *swoons*
julio the top post of this page is referring to the D M book.
Also theres some different shots in Stephen Goldbatt book, bit dear though.
Rogers site ( will not use the name) has a link to some SG pictures.
