DOUBLE FANTASY STRIPPED DOWN:

Yessssssssssssssssssss!!!!!, i am SO all over this like someone with flared nostrils into ‘Flatuerotisism’. More than any release in the past coup,e of years this is the one i’m most looking forward to. I think it’s pretty obvious from the content of this webpage my passion for all things John and Yoko in 1980, to get a reimagined (for want of a better phrase) version of my favorite John Lennon album is a dream come true, then we also have the PBS documentary in November of this year which focuses on John’s time in New York 71 – 80. I’m looking forward to all the happy things the second half of this year is going to bring us.

Just more revisionist history from Yoko, this time fighting against the “John had gone soft” criticisms of his contributions to Double Fantasy.

  2. Mark says:

I’m really looking forward to this album being shorn of its 80’s production & can’t wait to hear what it sounds like. Although, that new artwork is TERRIBLE!

Me too! : D And thank you so much for posting the Double Fantasy Stripped Down album cover. *huge hugs* : )

While I’m also looking forward to the tv program and the album, I would love to truly hear the session “chatter” tapes that Jack Douglas made in the studio while Double Fantasy was recorded. If you read all the books printed over the years about this period, each of them repeat rumors of things John said, played and did during those sessions that seemed to reveal a lot about his life and his future plans. But, alas, I’m sure we are going to get the watered-down John as told by the plasticine Elliot Mintz, as usual… “Gimme Some Truth” lol

  5. Erik says:

btw, is it me or does Elliot Mintz get weirder looking by the day. I mean, he looks “orange” nowadays….

Maybe I need to adjust my TV set though. 😉

    Hair Peace,

    Erik

I saw a recent photo of him too and it scared me! He looks like he is made of plastic.

    Yes, or sort of shrink-wrapped.

Jack Douglas did seem to tape everything while John was there. Supposedly there was a load of chat from December 8th that Jack decided to wipe the next day.

Looking forward just hearing a new angle on this record. Take the multitracks apart, why not, and all the others

Yoko’s should just stay as is though, she sounded fine already. And then combine the John tracks from Milk & Honey, and you might have what John originally planned as his come-back album, before getting talked into making this over-produced one with his wife.

AS A JOHN LENNON 1980 SUPERFAN I HAVE BOUGHT SOME DOUBLE FANTASY BOOTLEGS CD IN THE PAST.
I THINK THEY HAVE ALL THE VERSIONS OF EACH SONG SO I DON’T THINK THIS NEW DOUBLE FANTASY OFFICIAL CD’S GOING TO HAVE SOMETHING NEW FOR ME.
SORRY TO SAY BUT I THINK THIS CD FITS IN THE “YOKO’S MACHINE MONEY” CATEGORY.

  9. Tammy says:

Don’t be so sure about that Luis :-)

  10. Brian says:

The cover drawing looks like it might be drawn by Sean (judging by the similar drawing style at Sean’s site) MAYBE

  11. LUIS ENRIQUE says:

    I HOPE YOU’RE RIGHT TAMMY
I’M REALLY WILLING SOMETHING NEW FROM THIS CD

  12. Brian says:

Amazon lists this as a 2 CD set.
