i looove these! i’m not sure i had seen the top one before, maybe another one from the same day. i just woke up, i think the part of my brain that can tell if i’ve seen a photo before isn’t totally alert yet!
on a totally different subject, i would like to tell all my friends here that hunter davies told my story during his lecture at the british library last week, and said it was one of the most interesting in his book! i was quite pleased, as you can imagine.
Good for you Lizzie!
You’re stories are gems for those of us who never had the opportunity to be outside of the studio to greet “the boys” & see them up close or to receive an autograph or better yet, appear on one of their recordings. Your experiences help us to feel just what it must have been like and we can relive those moments with & through you.
I eagerly anticipate your book … thanks for sharing that part of your world with us!
Thanks Lizzie! Great new pics in an even greater picture blog!
Hey Lizzie…wasn’t this guitar first seen with Lennon in 1971…Art gallery in Syracuse??
Great photos! I had never seen the one from 1974. Who is that guy with John and whatever happened to that giant guitar?
Thanks a bunch for these, especially the first one. It’s brand new to me. : )
Congratulations Lizzie! Your story is quite extraordinary indeed. I agree with everything Ishie said and look forward to reading your book also.
Cheers!
Beatles.EMI: The guy in the ’74 pic is Capitol executive Al Coury.
thanks everyone! hi choclate, i really don’t know… i always associated that guitar with the studio (record plant). by the way, in case anyone is interested, roy cicala (who i met in the 80′s while i lived in new york) has been living in brazil (são paulo) for years. i have to track him down next time i’m over there.
Is that Artie Fufkin?
I don’t think that I’ve ever seen a photo of John with a gold record for a solo release before this one. Great photo. Isn’t there another photo of John and Yoko posing with this giant guitar from around 1971?
Hunter also took great delight in telling the Lizzie story in his interview with Danny Baker on BBC Radio 5 live.

thank you montagu! i will listen to it now.
Hunter interview starts at 1.07 in…
thank you stephanie! a friend made a little youtube video of the few words he says about me. it’s really nice that he is giving me so much space. i am honored.
i was just thinking… in october 2010 i went to the unveiling of the montagu square plaque in london and stood in the vip area right in front of hunter and yoko, but didn’t speak to them – they have no idea who i am. in may of last year hunter wrote me for the first time talking about the book. reading the yoko signed letter he sent me then and some interviews, i realize he and yoko spent time together the day after montagu square and started talking about the book. a brazilian guy i know met hunter at beatle week in august 2011 and he asked if he knew me. i wish i had spoken to hunter, as i would have loved to help him figure out john’s handwriting – at which i am reasonably good. looking through the book, i found the letter from janice dale levy i sent him. i don’t remember if this was a pen pal of mine in the 60′s, or a friend of a friend. why am i saying all this, i don’t know…
