  2. anonymous says:

hey miss lizzy. did you ever see or chat with the lads in ’69? in a lot of the pics they seem to be wearing the same clothes and looked kinda unwashed. not that i have a problem with that cus i do the samething meself, but i was just curious for scientific purposes. love, a friend. p.s. where are you markzapp?

  3. lizzie says:

hi a friend, i did see and chat with the lads in 1969. i remember paul’s hair looking like it needed a wash e couple of times. i would have to read my diaries again to see if i wrote anything on the subject. i’ll come back here and post, ok? take care.

  4. Chris says:

Interesting stuff Lizzie. I wonder if I know you on Facebook. I know a few other Apple Scruffs there.

  5. Sophie says:

Lizzie, I am just so envious of you, how amazing for you to have been so in the centre of such an amazing time! I like to believe I was there too, and was only RE-born in 1992. 😉
If I had been there, I’m 100% sure I’d have been an Apple Scruff too. :(
    How incredible for you!

  6. lizzie says:

hi chris, i don’t know if i know you on facebook. you can add me. sophie, you are almost the same age as my granddaughter morgana, she was born on february 25, 1993. it was indeed an amazing time to be there, especially 1967. that was THE year to be a beatle fan in london… soooo much going on! there are only a handful of us who are apple scruffs. many of the other girls had been regulars for ages, even before i got there, but for some reason they are not considered scruffs. it wasn’t glamorous at all, being told to leave, chased by the cops, freezing outside for hours and hours, but the rewards were immense: a “goodnight luv” from your fave beatle, a wave, talking to them when they had time. when i think about how HUGE they’ve become, it feels almost unreal that they were so approachable and normal.

  7. Grace says:

I think John and Paul especially shared clothes quite a bit. In the Hey Jude promo video John is wearing a purple shirt with a vest. In the Revolution video (which was shot for the same show) Paul is wearing that purple shirt.

  8. lizzie says:

hi grace! i noticed that john and paul had clothes made with the same material. in 1967 paul and john had green and blue shirts. if i’m not mistaken, john used his at the sgt. pepper party at brian epstein’s home, and paul used his a lot during that year.

  9. BLJ says:

Wow, Lizzie, how wonderful to have met and talked to the fab four. It is also, nice to know someone who lived during the first generation Beatle time. I saw them in 1964 at Atlantic City, New Jersey. I heard Paul is coming to Philadelphia, I will be buying tickets for that concert.

  10. a says:

Lizzie, I can’t imagine George saying “goodnight luv” to me! :) How fun that must of been!

  11. Chris says:

    Hi BLJ,
I think I corresponded with you via email. I was just looking up when The Beatles played in Atlantic City, New Jersey. I always found that amazing. I wonder if they drove there or took a train?

Sophie I was born 1960 by the way. :)

Paul is playing in Philadelphia? I HAVE TO SEE HIM AGAIN!

  12. BLJ says:

Chris, stay tuned to WOGL, they will keep you informed about Paul’s visit. I heard he is coming in August 2010. I think he will be performing at the Wachovia Center but I am not certain. I think that is what I heard.

  13. Chris says:

I tried to meet Paul at Giant Stadium in NJ. As some guy was taking me the arm and walking me away (there was no need for that), a Limo drove by me into the Stadium. I SHOULD HAVE WAVED!! IT VERY WELL COULD HAVE BEEN PAUL!!!!

  14. lizzie says:

hi blj and a: there are SOME advantages to being old (i turn 59 on the 29th), especially beatle-related. “beatling” in the late 60’s in london was an incredible treat (with those minor drawbacks i have mentioned before: hours on end in the freezing cold, rain and/or snow, surviving on cokes and bags of potato chips, forget going to the bathroom, policemen calling you by your name, etc., etc.). i still wouldn’t have missed it for the world!

  15. BLJ says:

Hi Lizzie, wasn’t it fun being in the mist of all that. You are the same age as my younger sister who also saw the Beatles in 64. I remember being so far away from them and climbing over the seats just to get close to the stage. The police did not stop us because they were busy trying get the girls to go back to their seats and clear the isles. By the way, I am 64.

  16. Tammy says:

Alright girls, stop rubbing it in, Miss Tammy is standing here lifting her skirt to fan herself, i can only imagine what it would be like to have seen any of this in person, i’m sure i would have had spotting on my skirt if just ONE of the Beatles had passed me by.

  17. lizzie says:

tammy dearest, i wish you could have been there with us so we could lust after our fave beatle together!

  18. Lens color is a personal choice and doesn’t affect how well sunglass lenses protect your eyes from UV light. Gray and brown are popular because they distort color perception the least.
