    Well, helloooooooo sailor!

It’s especially bad on John and Paul.

  2. Brian says:

    Is this real?!

  3. BLJ says:

I wonder if this is real. Looks kind of photo shopped, to me. It looks like not much, if any, was put on Ringo and George.
On another note, why didn’t someone fix those united eyebrows? 😀

I dont believe this photo at all, it just couldnt have happened, afterall the hoo haa about having to where suits I for one cannot believe thye would have done the eyeliner, although Ive seen pics before of them looking supiciously that way before, there is a precedent oo of many others stars of the day doing the same, it has obvious effects when they played the large theatres in the same way actors would need to use eyeliner too to give a more defined expression with their eyes, but if they Beatles really did do this Id be most least the amount that John has on here!surely not..and if he did then why not a decnt bit of lippy too!

  5. Ali says:

It is real. Paul talked about it, saying when they were on tour at the time someone showed them how to use the stage make up, but that they weren’t impressed by how it turned out.

  6. Alice says:

It’s real, but the eyeliner is so crudely applied it just looks photoshopped! There’s a famous Dezo Hoffman photo of the boys in a dressing room holding a heart-shaped pillow made by a fan, and John and Paul are obviously wearing stage makeup. George and Ringo are looking down so it’s hard to tell if they’re made-up or not.

  7. Markzapp says:

See? Alice Cooper, KISS and Marilyn Manson have more than just their music to thank the Beatles for!

  8. BLJ says:

This is definitely photo shopped. I did a 400 times zoom. John eyes are a dead giveaway. When you zoom in you can see the eyeliner in the whites of John’s eyes.

  9. Ali says:

page 77 of the Anthology book. Paul & George both talk about Ted Taylor putting stage makup on them and them being photographed and it ending up on a promo poster and them being embarrassed about it. This is one of those pics, taken at the Embassy Theatre, Peterborough, Dec 2, 1962.

  10. The dream has just begun! I love the first pictures.

  11. Sonia says:

How about Max Factor and Maybelline?

  12. cacau says:

They are ridiculous! Who made this make up?

  13. Lucy says:

I have a boook with unpublished negatives of The Beatles, and I recall that photo of the boys with the eyeliner-look. I think it is due to a bad negative…
