This is such a great photo!!

  4. Julia says:

I must admit to being slightly frightened by George’s dental work. I much prefer the dear little vampire fangs of old…

  5. Chelsea says:

Yeah, it’s true, Julia. I miss the fangs … but his teeth used to be pretty crooked, so I understand why he got them straightened. The fangs should’ve stayed, though!

  6. MarkZapp says:

Ahhh…if only John could have joined them for The Anthology project…

  7. Cara says:

This photo makes me kind of sad, actually…

one of the best pics of the threetles. a friend.

  9. Chris says:

Is it me, or are they all wearing John Lennon glasses?

  10. stephanie says:

    its you. (just joking)

John’s National Health specs were reading glassess, not sunglassess. (OK, so I am pedantic !!)

If you are refering to the shape, then Ringo’s are the closest in shape and size to John’s.

Cool pic though. Its a warm and genuine grin from George, and gives the lie to some who claimed he was not a willing participant in the reunions of 94 and 95.

  11. Chris says:

I do think they are wearing these glasses because they are shaped like John Lennon glasses and are creating a sub conscious (however sublet to the concise mind yet exploding to the collective unconsciousness), to John Lennon. 😀

George didn’t get his teeth straightened; he had dental problems from the radiation for his cancer, which is a side effect, and had caps on all his uppers. He never liked them as they were too large and too white, and he rarely smiled in photos after that.

  13. stephanie says:

Did not George’s cancer first manifest in about 1997? 2 years after this photo.

  14. Carol says:

that’s when it was announced, because the News of the World had found out and was going to release the story and he wanted to beat them to it, but, it had initially been discovered almost 3 years before. The scans showed pin sized tumors which were too small to be operated on and he was initially radiated and had radioactive isotopes therapy done which seemed to be working for a while. One of the side effects of the cancer therapies is the dying of healthy cells and gums and he had developed receding gums which made his teeth loose. After having several bridges put in, he decided to get caps as his teeth were still suffering and he hated them once they were done.

  15. greg raymond says:

Didn’t George first get his teeth fixed around 1975?

  16. Carol says:

He had them fixed numerous times. First he had his fangs cut down and his teeth whitened. Then, although he was constantly brushing them, he chipped 2 teeth and had those capped. Then the cancer treatments caused gum loss which made his teeth loose and he had full caps put on his uppers. He broke a few and had them redone and he hated them. He thought they changed his chin and mouth and looked fake, but didn’t want to see any more medical people than necessary, so he never had them replaced by more natural ones. He would probably have had thin veneers put on had he lived to see the advent of them.
