This is such a cool book, and a must have for any John in 1980 fan.
The book ‘Lennon Bermuda’ can be purchased ‘HERE’

The High Class Cat and the
It’s time for some chocolate cake in a bag…
(too many hungry people losing weight)
This pix must be one of that womans most prized possessions.
And yes, too skiiny or not John was ultra cool at this point, after sailing to Bermuda through the storm and all those songs starting to come through he was beginning to be really revitalized. Looking back if this was to be the last phase of his life here on earth, at least it was a great one.
Lennon looked AWFUL during this period. He was clearly not a well man, sadly.
These pics lend credence to the claims by some that Lennon had an eating
disorder. These are really sad to look at.
What is most striking in the photos above is the love that was shared between father & son. Sean’s smile, John’s serenity …. captured and painted beautifully.
I have to agree with Dave J. on this pictures. John didn’t look good at all. Maybe if he had put some weight on and cut his hair he would have looked like the John Lennon we all knew and loved
i love the 1980 look… yes, he is skinny. what we have to remember is that he struggled with his weight and was quite happy to be finally the way he wanted. he was doing yoga and eating healthy. i don’t think he looks sick. and i love his long hair…
Let’s not forget he was on a macrobiotic diet at the time (and even in the early 70′s) so looking “skinny” was the whole point. Healthwise I don’t think there were any complaints.
As unwell as he looks to me, from what I’ve heard of his history, he was really starting to rev back up at this point. So maybe he was just pulling out of a slump? He looked a little better during the later studio sessions. And he certainly sounded strong judging from the recordings, official and otherwise.
Yeah, what Lizzie and Jorge said. Also, can we discuss how adorable Sean looks?
Sorry, but John looks like a transvestite.
Great photos!! John looked so healthy, happy, and tanned here. I agree with Lizzie, Jorge & Cara.
John was in excellent health during 1980, and he was healthily slim. He did not have fat on his body.
Paul today is of similar body shape, thanks to his veggie diet, slim, not carrying any fat. Does anyone say Paul looks sickly and unhealthy?
Ringo 2013= a picture of health. veggie diet, slim, not carrying excess fat. Ive never heard anyone say he looks sick or unhealthy !!
Carrying fat is not healthy for anyone.
In 2013, 67% of North Americans are either overweight, fat, or obese. I think this has led to a distortion of what is seen as “healthy” or “normal”. Fat has become normalised in our affluent society…but it is a distorted and unhealthy view.
Wow! Tough crowd.
Please read Stephanie’s last paragraph. It really does get tiring to see negative comments about someone’s appearance. For those who feel the need to rip on John, please post a photo of yourself for us to critique.
Good girl Stephanie, I knew these pics would ramp up the some what tiresome shit storm of John being sick etc, he looks tanned, light hair sun bleached and with low body fat, all ticks in my book.
Some of this may be due to seeing someone who normally wears glasses, squinting in strong sunlight without them. Put some prescription shades on that bad boy, and he’ll look a whole lot better, IMHO.
i agree with most everyone here.
Still not as skinny as George Harrison at any given time. He looks happy and healthy to me. He was just a slim guy.
This isn’t about criticizing someone’s appearance–give me a break.
Being on a “macrobiotic” diet doesn’t equate to health. He clearly wasn’t taking in enough calories to maintain an appropriate weight for his age and height.
John appears to be so much healthy unlike the obese generation we live in and appears almost floating in serenity….im sure hes the weight he chooses to be thats all that matters…
1980 look at photos of Mick Jagger, George Harrison etc.
People were thinner back then.
Some of you are so use to overweight that is the new normal for you.
John looked great!
Some of you people are great examples of why fame kills. This is what did Elvis in. You get blinded by this foolish notion of fame and that your hero can do no wrong, that he’s infallible, that he’s a god among men. You know who’d be the first person to tell you that you’re utterly and completely full of shit?? hmm? Lennon.
He looks like he just walked out of Auschwitz, for Christ sake! Take off the rose coloured Beatle glasses. The man himself writes a song explicitly rejecting the idea of hero worship (God)….and it goes right over your head. I’m inclined to believe that some commenters on here are the type of people an ex Beatle would cross the street to avoid.
Dave, not seeing hero worship or delusion here, no ones mentioned John has done no wrong, i’m not seeing anyone defending Johns heroin abuse, his destructive abuse of alcohol, just peoples differing opinions on what constitutes healthy. John shows no sign of anorexia here, he’s super slim, as the photo’s from the 26th of November show, but if you’ve ever been exposed to anorexia you would know that this isn’t the picture of it.
Btw, what did Elvis in was self arrogance, self removal from reality, and total abuse of his body. Pity Elvis didn’t follow John’s diet.
Not to belabor the point, but someone with a serious eating disorder could not have dedicated the amount of time John did to constructing Double Fantasy. Apart from thanking everyone who helped him and Yoko stay in the US, he should have given a shout out to sushi and coffee. The amount of energy it must have taken to record two albums’ worth of material in that short span tells me that he was firing on all cylinders.
what Tammy said.
Oh, and Dave, that reference to Auschwitz is highly offensive to the memories of the millions of people that were murdered there. Not one person escaped or “walked out”.
What Stephanie said.
@ a different Chris: that’s incorrect. People with eating disorders are able to work hard, hold down jobs, and do all kinds of things people without eating disorders to.
I think he looks cool myself. No different to White Album John…
But that Lennon Bermuda book has the world’s worst ever portrait of Lennon on the front. Why not use one of the photos?
And the album: Maxi Priest doing John’s(?) All My Loving? C’mon…
Just issue the unseen photos…
And unheard demos (if any)…
