The last photo is a contender for a place in my top ten favorite Fab photos.

Absolutely, I agree! Great shots! Nice to see they had some good moments in that mostly contentious period within the band.

  2. Diane says:

I love these photos, especially the last one. Paul used these photos on the large screens behind him at his Citi Field Concert. Thanks for posting them!

Can you take me back where I’ve been from….brother can you take me back?
    Apologies to Kwai….

  4. Michael says:

One could call the 3rd pic “Last Laugh”.

  5. Erin says:

Love that last picture. That’s one of my favorites as well.

  6. Kwai Chang says:

I’m not sure if what I feel is inspiration or heartbreak…
The intensity is higher than most…
I just want to know “was it over” in their minds when these were taken?
    Very ‘eavy…very ‘umble!!!

Amidst the muck & mire of those long ago days it is heartwarming to see that there were still glimpses of laughter & unity. Music was the ingredient that brought them together initially and it also was the gift that kept them going in the roughest of times.
Kwai … your “was it over” question is a very good one. There are so many accounts of that … when touring stopped, when Brian passed, when John met Yoko etc.
I just think that they were growing so much on individual, musical and personal levels that “keeping it together” became more & more difficult. Criticisms & complaints were running rampant but the music was still stellar. That, is the eternal testament to their talents & their greatness.

  8. Nick says:

And in the end…they were just friends….

  9. Kwai Chang says:

    apologies to me???
    (but, thank you)

  10. Pete F. says:

    Very well said Ishie.

I’m pretty sure Paul used these photos last year at his Montreal shows as well. There were many beautiful shots of George, several with Paul, all taken by Linda I’m guessing.

That second pic blows my mind. Having been inside Studio 2 at Abbey Road just a few months ago, I can see exactly where the photo was taken: middle of the room, stairs going up to the control room behind Paul, stacks of red chairs in the corners. Every picture of #2 looks different to me now. Thanks for posting.

  11. Bill C. says:

Like to know what they were laughing at…..

  12. Kevin says:

Was it one of George’s songs they were working on?

  13. Bluesdude says:

I wish I knew what song they were doing !

  14. Tammy says:

Just been listening to some isolated vocal tracks, i’m thinking this is for George and Paul’s vocals on ‘Something’, especially when Paul breaks away in a high hormony after the guitar solo.

  15. lizzie says:

totally awsome – i don’t know which one i like the best, they are just superb! linda lived a photographer’s dream: to have those people around and be able to capture such amazing moments.

  16. Kwai Chang says:

The last picture is proof that these guys were conduit for Happiness…the rest(hipness, coolness, charisma, caring, fairness, et al) is all just symptoms of said condition.
When, have you seen that kind of light streaming out of someones eyes?
    Intensity meter: PEGGED!!!

  17. C3BlueNote says:

Kwai – BeKause I felt I was stealing a line you might/would have said. As soon as I wrote it, I thought of you. You by far have some of the best-Lennon-flavored quotes on this blog. Some days surreal, some days whimiscal. Just saying….great pics by the way, don’t you think?

  18. Kwai Chang says:

Can you take me back C3BlueNote…
    Can you take me back?
    Such kind words…
    fortunately, I am non-profit.
    (I accept all donations)
I must tell you that I have no favorite brother or Beatle…
I am the blend of them all.
So, how do I do it?
How can one be sure they are on the right path?
    It’s easy…
    by not seeking it.
Oo, can you take me where I came from…
    can you take me back??
