This picture came from issue #7 of Tiger Beat’s Monkee Spectacular November, 1967. The article was called Mike and Phyllis Spend A Weekend With The Lennons…or somesuch. I don’t think I’ve seen it before…which begs the question “Where’s the rest of the roll?”. I shall have to check and see if it was credited. Anyway, is this an actual session whereby tape is running? They couldn’t really navigate those instruments could they? Was it just noise to go on the inner-groove of Pepper? Who am I and where is my (A) Car…or horse???
The picture was taken on June 25, 1967. The Beatles were just goofing around in the studio before the actual taping/filming of the “All You Need Is Love” session for the “Our World’ TV special. They probably came earlier than normal due to the fact that this session was also going to be filmed. I doubt that this part of them in the studio was being recorded. There are a few photos from this session with Brian Epstein hanging around with John, Paul & George. They are possibly the last photos of Brian with them. There was a book published a while ago that detailed this entire session.
